Unusual Newark Penn Arrival

Recommended Posts

I was on New York bound at 11 near Newark Penn station. We all know all trains arrived on Track 1 or 2 to go to New York. Today for unkown reason it arrived on Track 1A. The track that never been used for pick up or drop passengers. This is first time i been on train that arrived on track 1A. i was scanning that area since i got the window seat on the left side. I saw nothing going on the track until i saw one worker in orange vest was hanging out near the switch track next to the bridge. Any reason what the cause to use track 1A?

Tk A is a valid track for making train stops, and trains stop there every day. It doesn't get used much because that platform is separate from the rest of the station, and because 1/2 have direct connections to the PATH.
