alekr Posted September 20, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 20, 2012 I wished the CBTC project was completed! I am totally looking forward to see what would be the express service would be like when the CBTC is completed. I bet it will be more faster from Times Square to Main street about 20 minutes. Also I think when the train goes from the 111th street flyover to Wilis Point it will not make jerky stops instead it could go smoother.
TheSubwayStation Posted September 20, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 20, 2012 Cool story bro! You know, there's a thread designed specifically for such random ideas as this... http://www.nyctransi.../page__st__1460
FriedChikkin Posted September 20, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2012 Times Square to Main street about 20 minutes. Also I think when the train goes from the 111th street flyover to Wilis Point it will not make jerky stops instead it could go smoother. 20 Minutes? Perhaps. One thing that will have to be replaced are all the tracks. ALL of them. That jerkiness heading into Willets is due to all the timers the Train Operator has to comply with. The tracks play a big part in the successful implementation of CBTC on the line, replacing all those crossovers between 111 Street and Willets is going to be a MAJOR, MAJOR G.O. I can imagine trains having to drop out at 111 Street, relaying and shuttle buses to Main Street.

Fan Railer Posted September 21, 2012 Share #6 Posted September 21, 2012 20 minutes my ass. It takes between 35 and 40 minutes for the EXPRESS to get from terminal to terminal. You're not shaving off 15 minutes just with automation and removal of timers. I would say low 30 min would be a better estimate.
Snowblock Posted September 22, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 22, 2012 Huh? Last night I operated a 7 local run in 32 minutes. That same day I also beat my express follower to Main St, since it got held by congestion while we got a straight shot into tk 2! Expresses are so overrated..... Y2Julio Posted September 22, 2012 Share #8 Posted September 22, 2012 Which is why it pisses me off when people hold the doors on my train when I'm an express. There's another one behind me and your delaying service when there isn't that much of a time difference between express and local run times. Grand Concourse Posted September 22, 2012 Share #9 Posted September 22, 2012 Shame the doors can't be fitted with small electrical wires... that'll get the mobs to let the doors go unless they enjoy the shock
Kamen Rider Posted September 22, 2012 Share #10 Posted September 22, 2012 in about 4 years, when the lineside install is complete and all R188s are at Corona and ready to go.

realizm Posted September 23, 2012 Share #13 Posted September 23, 2012 Which is why it pisses me off when people hold the doors on my train when I'm an express. There's another one behind me and your delaying service when there isn't that much of a time difference between express and local run times. You're not the only one. It really gets me when as a straphanger people hold doors holding up the train by two minutes sometimes when I must get somewhere by a certain time. Particularly when I can see that this passenger obviously have nothing to do with his day but to defend his perceived constitutional rights for holding the damn door when I put the stranger on the spot for holding the doors and therefore my timely commute. I can get pretty nasty and vicious sometimes in the face of really stupid people, rightfully so.
