Here's some shots I took today at the Mall between 8 Mile & 9 Mile Roads. There were hardly any RTS's out today. I only saw 2, and one of the drivers told me they use mostly NF's on the weekend, so I have to wait till Monday, or go downtown to catch some of those.

These shots are of the suburban transit agency known as SMART. They operate north of 8 mile, and to/from downtown Detroit.

the only thing i ever did in detroit is the waterfont, and the monorail or whatever. but it's a nice city you'll have fun.

 

Yeah I have family here, and I went to college in Ann Arbor, so the only thing new to me is some of the buses.

 

LOL! 8 Mile....

 

Great photos man! How long you in the motor city for?

i'm leaving for new orlenas-atlanta on august 22nd or 23rd don't remember. staying there til last day of august then school. damn

when i went to detriot a few yrs ago, 2006 , teenagers will be dancing freesatyle just a very few to impress other boys. oh right that was the undeground mall by the waterfront.

You probably did see an RTS-04. At one time all DDOT ordered were GM buses for obvious reasons. They never had any Orions, but they did have '93-'94 New Flyer D40HF's. Transit Windsor (Canada) has Classics, Nova LFS', Orion VII Diesels, and El Dorado Nationals. I'll get some pics of those tomorrow.

Naw, Detroit has to have the worst fleet. They wash the buses once every 2 months. There's dust caked up on the insides, the maintenance teams in Mexico are better, the back right side of more than half the fleet is banged up, an old college friend of mine was on the bus last week and it ran out of gas! Half the drivers look like they just put the pipe down before they started their run, and it's the lowest paid TA in the western hemisphere starting at $9.00. I could go on and on!

chicago has RTS-04 most of the fleet and it's dirtier than you think. i still have a picture i think.

You serious? :eek: West Farms wash buses everyday (went there 5 days in a row and saw buses getting washed everytime)...Every two months is crazy...Is it worse than KB?

chicago one bus i will upload looks like snow dirt at the rear engine and back. but some how the buses the interior its prety clean

Well, it does snow alot and often during the winter, it washes off soon or they'll wash it themselves....

 

If this is the summer, then theres a problem.

They are actually the '91 TMC RTS-08 WFD. These buses are in the process of being retired.
