There's several places in the system where seldom-used switches were taken out so they no longer had to be maintained. That's just one of them, there are plenty to view along the Concourse, Eastern Pkwy and WPR segments (among others) as well. The ones on the Concourse are especially striking being that the former roadbed imprint is clearly visible.

These locations seem to have them too:

  • between Prince Street and 8 Street along Broadway

  • between Union Street and Atlantic Avenue along 4 Avenue

  • between 45 Street and 36 Street along 4 Avenue

That's interesting. There is a crossover east of Hunterspoint that is still used. Did they move the switch from the west end to the east end? Or were there switches at both ends of the station at one point?
