mark1447 Posted September 30, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2012 Convicted TSA agent who stole more than $800K worth of goods from passengers says stealing from bags is ‘very’ common A former TSA agent who spent three years in prison for stealing from passengers' luggage says the practice is “commonplace.” Pythias Brown admits to stealing more than $800,000 worth of cash, clothing and electronics over a four-year period at Newark Liberty International Airport. He was finally caught trying to sell a stolen CNN camera on eBay. "It became so easy, I got complacent," Brown told ABC News. Though Brown says he might have been one of the biggest thieves at the Transportation Security Administration, he believes the agency has a culture of entitlement — and of looking the other way. “It was so easy. One day I walked out of there with the video game, the Nintendo Wii. I walked right out of the checkpoint with the Nintendo Wii in my hand,” he said. TSA agents on the take justify their actions, he explained. “They aren’t paying me, they’re treating me wrong. They’re doing this and they’re doing that. And they just don’t care,” he said of some of his former colleagues. NYCRailfan523 Posted September 30, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2012 Maybe it's only common for you, Pythias Brown. I hope he gets a heavier sentence than this. He even tried to sell a CNN camera in eBay. Now he needs punishment, for his own good.
Joe Posted September 30, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 30, 2012 That's nice, bitching about your job and trying to use that as an excuse to steal. It's amazing how they will try to justify their actions.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted September 30, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 30, 2012 So tired of people complaining about jobs they decided to take. Oh I don't get this. I have to deal with that. Well get another job! Friggin' loser. Three years for stealing close to 800k worth of cash, clothing and electronics... He should be beaten like he stole something (which he did) and then some. Joe Posted September 30, 2012 Share #5 Posted September 30, 2012 Well, not for nothing, but when you have a job with piss poor pay, you get piss poor people.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted September 30, 2012 Share #6 Posted September 30, 2012 Well, not for nothing, but when you have a job with piss poor pay, you get piss poor people. lol... Still a lame excuse.... If he wanted more money he could take on another job or get a new full time job altogether. Would be a lot easier quite frankly. Are they allowed to go through your things when unloading them? It seems like that's what he was doing. What they should do is have surveillance in that area. In all of my years of flying, I've been fortunate so far not to have anything stolen or lost.
Joe Posted September 30, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 30, 2012 I simply don't fly. No need to, nor do I have any desire to. I'm not going to put myself up for scrutiny by these morons.

Joe Posted September 30, 2012 Share #9 Posted September 30, 2012 You would likely be collared for that. The TSA is a rogue organization that was borne out of incompetence and thrives on it.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted September 30, 2012 Share #10 Posted September 30, 2012 I'm sure I would... Plan 2 then... I'm sure there must be an app. for this problem... There always is.
Joe Posted September 30, 2012 Share #11 Posted September 30, 2012 The TSA is the biggest example of security theater that I have ever seen. It's a multi-trillion dollar excuse to give morons jobs. Additional bureaucracy to expand the reach of government.
Orion VII 4 Life Posted September 30, 2012 Share #12 Posted September 30, 2012 And this is why I hate Newark Airport. Incompetent TSA agents, crappy terminals (though C is a bit nice), stereotypical Jerseyans, and a just awful AirTrain. JFK all the way.
Joel Up Front Posted October 1, 2012 Share #13 Posted October 1, 2012 Incompetent TSA agents? They're all over, never mind EWR. And these idiots are supposed to be the first line of defense in airports? God help us.
NYCRailfan523 Posted October 1, 2012 Share #14 Posted October 1, 2012 I totally agree with these guys - if I didn't like my job, I would resign and find a new one instead of stealing and doing stuff to get fired.
theaveragejoe Posted October 3, 2012 Share #15 Posted October 3, 2012 lol now he cant complain about low pay as no one will hire his ass any where, unless slinging rocks on the corner in Irvington or Newark!
KeystoneRegional Posted October 3, 2012 Share #16 Posted October 3, 2012 Blaming one doesn't do justice and doesn't solve anything. At least he recognize his fault like several other TSA Agents caught doing the same act. In fact a lot do it under the radar but yet to be caught and believe me, this is not limited to TSA Agents, also local police and other "enforcement" agencies around the nation and beyond. Orion VII 4 Life Posted October 10, 2012 Share #17 Posted October 10, 2012 Incompetent TSA agents? They're all over, never mind EWR. And these idiots are supposed to be the first line of defense in airports? God help us. They're ESPECIALLY bad at EWR. There was just a study the other day that showed they don't always follow procedures properly, which doesn't surprise me at all. Good luck to that airport, I'll see y'all at JFK. Chargerdodge9 Posted November 5, 2012 Share #18 Posted November 5, 2012 The TSA goon force is running wild nationwide. These fools threaten people with tootepaste tubes, but allow others to travel with a pair of scissors.
rr4567 Posted November 5, 2012 Share #19 Posted November 5, 2012 And this is one of the many reasons we don't NEED the f---ing TSA.

DJ MC Posted November 7, 2012 Share #23 Posted November 7, 2012 Looking at how this jackass stole $800K in goods from passengers and hearing that other TSA agents are doing the same thing regularly tells me why I have been seeing an enormous amount of passengers taking Amtrak and Greyhound recently. Joe Posted November 8, 2012 Share #24 Posted November 8, 2012 That and on Amtrak or Greyhound, you don't need to be anally probed. Keep your dignity & keep your stuff, it's a win-win.
Chargerdodge9 Posted November 9, 2012 Share #25 Posted November 9, 2012 Enjoy it while you can because eventually, the TSA will headover to Greyhound and Amtrak as well.
