ttcsubwayfan Posted June 3, 2014 Share #101 Posted June 3, 2014 I wonder how many arguments could be avoided if people could just learn to respect the fact that there is no right or wrong opinion when it comes to vehicle preferences... That goes for both sides.

R32 3838 Posted June 4, 2014 Share #107 Posted June 4, 2014 This thread makes no sense anything is better than what it was in the 1970's and 1980's, damn i think this thread should be locked, its pointless HOW DARE YOU SAY THE R32s ARE THE WORST! I Want them to keep on living! LONG LIVE R32S! Lance Posted June 5, 2014 Share #109 Posted June 5, 2014 There's nothing wrong with having a preference or opinion towards one particular car class over another. As long as this remains relatively civil, I'll keep it open.
Themikepeng Posted June 5, 2014 Share #110 Posted June 5, 2014 instead of shouting R32s SUCK or R160s ARE AWESOME or vice versa, here's my reasons: R32: easily proved itself with 50 years of service already, if they really last until 2017 then that will be 53-54 years: is it just me or is that a record? and who knows, the TA might keep them even longer if there was something like the R44's sudden death again built by budd! look at what else they built: 1. r11: set the TA's standards forever 2. amtrak's amfleet: they're still everywhere, despite the wear and tear of 125mph service railfan window form follows function: if it's boxy, it's gonna last R160: foreign trash! disgusts me how almost everything is foreign built nowadays! foreign japanese korean whatever trash I tell you! TO's cover up RFW R32 proved itself with those years of service, the R160 only has 8 years! how can anyone say they're good! promising at best, but not good! tried to make them look good, but all that black poop on the front... same goes for DC metro's 7000s (also foreign crud) FIND breaking down = no station display! old plastic cards don't break down! plus FIND= lazy TO's who don't need to make announcements! and then the trains themselves still break down, R32 breaking down=they're they've served many good years, R160 breaking down = they're trash http://www.bvestation.com/forums/index.php?topic=1557.0;imode most of all I can't stand the part about the foreign stuff, they don't deserve to wear the american flag! and I don't trust technology, in fact i've never owned a smartphone despite my parents almost begging me to! heck I don't even plan to drive! Fresh Pond Posted June 5, 2014 Share #111 Posted June 5, 2014 Oh you want reasons now? Ok bet... On the R32s.... -2nd worse performing cars on the rails now (slightly ahead of the R42s) in terms of MDBF -Only around to this day because of the R44 crapstorm -the systemwide MDBF average is around 100,000 miles. The R32s are BARELY doing half of that -They have to be shifted to another line outdoors because of crappy A/C issues (some do have good A/C, I'll give it that) -Constant breakdowns, dead motors, illegible PA system -Cramped, claustrophobic-like cab area (I support full-width cabs) I'm sick of the damn cars...everywhere I go, someone making the cars sound like its the greatest thing out since internet porn. The #1 reason why damn near everyone say they the greatest is because they lasted this long, but completely overlook the fact that they are still here because of unforseen circumstances and probably would've all be gone years ago. Its a damn metal box on wheels, y'all making it sound like the second coming or it can cure cancer. They're 49 years old, they are gonna die eventually, get over it, get with the times and shut the hell up with it already... /endrant
Snowblock Posted June 5, 2014 Share #112 Posted June 5, 2014 I'm surprised nobody mentioned the worst thing about the R160s - slowest door motors in the whole fleet! And thanks to a recently issued bulletin, there's now nothing the train crews can do about frozen FINDs. They're gonna have to remain that way until the train is yarded. ttcsubwayfan Posted June 5, 2014 Share #113 Posted June 5, 2014 How shocking that people are able to like things that are not internet porn, the second coming (I'm sorry, is the firey destruction of the world something that people are supposed to celebrate?) or in built with abilities that can cure cancer. Union Tpke Posted June 6, 2014 Share #118 Posted June 6, 2014 Wasn't trying to start a flame war but I love them so much! I understand they make a screeching sound, they have low MDBF, they have bad AC in the summer. I understand how they have many problems, but come on people, they have great RFWs!, they have great rollsigns, great look, have run on every B division route! EDIT: I am being too enthusiastic

ttcsubwayfan Posted June 9, 2014 Share #123 Posted June 9, 2014 I have never seen such a profound inability to respect others' opinions with any other car class. I now understand what Turbo said all those months ago about the cars being such sources of drama. Holy sh**, people. Some people like R32s. Some people don't like R32s. Instead of jumping down their throats for expressing their opinion with all kinds of personal insults, why don't you find something more productive to do with your time? It's absolutely PATHETIC that a bunch of grown-a** men can't deal with people thinking differently than them. Oh yeah, and I don't see why everyone feels the need to parade their like/dislike of the R32s every time they post. Most people on this forum are familiar with what most forumers think of the cars, there's no need to advertise that any time the cars come up in discussion. I never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait for them to retire - then there will be something else that people can have p*ssing contests over.
