Bracamonte 124 #1 Posted October 9, 2012 I've wanted to ride the Waterbury Branch, but because it was closed for most of the summer due to construction, I had to wait until it reopen. Today, with no college classes because of Columbus Day, I finally had the chance to ride the Waterbury Branch. The consist was unusual as it used a full Shore Line East set, consisting of ex-VRE coaches and an ex-Amtrak P40 (or P42?). Usually, the Waterbury Branch uses three shoreliners and either a Genesis or Brookvile, though the southbound train that came before consisted of three bombs and a Genesis. Here's the photos and videos. Enjoy!

Amtrak7 427 #3 Posted October 9, 2012 How was ridership? I know today was a holiday. And passengers at Beacon Falls? That's a bit of a surprise, given that's the lowest ridership non-special station on the system. The midday weekday turn usually uses SLE equipment (14:50 dp Waterbury, 13:37 dp Bridgeport)

I never knew Beacon Falls served less passengers.

Bracamonte 124 #8 Posted October 9, 2012 I also realized that the coach's doors were manual. When we arrived at Bridgeport, I waited for the doors to open, but it wasn't until I noticed a handle. It amazing that SLE have old style coaches.
