Shortline Bus Posted November 11, 2012 Author Share #26 Posted November 11, 2012 Damn, that's crazy. Jackson maybe great, but the guy retired because he was getting old and I don't see him turning this team around. This is a panic move... Did not Jackson also have health problems at end of his last stint with the Lakers (2010-'11)? The Philmaster is not exactly a spring chicken in age either. JFK Depot Posted November 12, 2012 Share #27 Posted November 12, 2012 In surprising news the Lakers went with D'Antoni over Jackson.... Just read on ESPN D'Antoni inked a 4 yr deal Press Conference should be tomorrow
Grand Concourse Posted November 12, 2012 Share #28 Posted November 12, 2012 Lol, well at least that's over. But (granted the Knicks still sucked till they finally turned thing around last year) unless he adopts some defense, expect a continuation of losses. 4 years? I don't see him lasting past 2 and they are more impatient than the Knicks are.

Just read on ESPN D'Antoni inked a 4 yr deal Press Conference should be tomorrow Mike D'Antoni? How in hell he got another NBA coaching job so quick? I thought after he left NY he would be in Europe for bit. Still being fair this is the best team he had in his NBA coaching career i.e aging Kobe, Howard, etc. With that said, I don't think D'Antoni is a championship type head man. We shall see. JFK Depot Posted November 13, 2012 Share #31 Posted November 13, 2012 What messed it up for Jackson was he wanted more control of the Franchise moving forward and Jerry Buss wasn't trying to do that.. He was guaranteed the money he asked for tho

He was guaranteed the money he asked for tho Jerry Buss is agruably the best Owner in NBA History winning 10 titles between 1980 and 2010. However in recent years he has not done a great job including given his adult kids more power in running the team as he got older. Buss had no choice to turn down Jackson over the top request for being team GM/.Head Coach and thus picking times he would be on the team on the road. Brighton Express Posted November 13, 2012 Share #33 Posted November 13, 2012 The decision was just plain stupid. Does he really think that Howard and Kobe are going to like D'Antoni any better?
JFK Depot Posted November 13, 2012 Share #34 Posted November 13, 2012 I think Buss was ok with Jackson missing games on the road... I peeped something saying Jackson's system (triangle offense) wouldn't work with Howard and Nash... Despite Howard and Kobe being in favor for Jackson over D'Antoni smh.... I can't wait to see what type of defense they play under D'Antoni
Brighton Express Posted November 13, 2012 Share #35 Posted November 13, 2012 It all depends who is in. I am thinking a 1-2-2 Triangle would be the best option. Nash has a little speed, and Kobe and World Peace are both strong enough to hold the opposition out of the paint. I am not sure how he coaches though. Jackson by himself as a coach 11 (6x w/ bulls & 5 in LA) than Buss 10. Sorry got to disagree. Even the best coach in NBA history has to be with his team at all times for entire season iMO barring rare time for family situation or health issue. B35 via Church Posted November 14, 2012 Share #38 Posted November 14, 2012 - How about D'antoni coaching the Lakers.... that will have FAIL written all over it, and I think Kobe is lying through his teeth when he says a] he didn't know Phil was a candidate to take Mike Brown's place & b] that D'antoni is such this great fit..... He's trying to sell Laker nation (quote-unquote) an expired bill of goods & quite frankly, a load of crap..... The Lakers DO NOT have the personnel for the way D'antoni likes to run his offenses - They don't have the shooters/wingmen for it, and these guys are god damn OLD; Kobe aint no spring chicken his self.... Their bodies will become all the more torn/worn & they will get fed up with that run & gun shit after a while..... D'antoni teams win reg. season games, but not championships - and IMO, the Lakers won't come close to making the finals w/ him as coach.... Can't see it. - As for the Knicks, they've been puttin in that work; beating teams by double digits these past 5 games.... Good for them.... If I were a knick fan though, I would be nervous about Stoudemire coming back & possibly ending up tarnishing what the team got going on right now...... - As for the Nets.... Man I swear, Can this team hold a big lead to save their lives ????
JubaionBx12+SBS Posted November 14, 2012 Share #39 Posted November 14, 2012 It's not going to be a good year for the Pistons or Wizards who are each winless. It's looks like as of now the Bobcats won't be the laughing stock of the league.
B35 via Church Posted November 15, 2012 Share #40 Posted November 15, 2012 heh, Those two teams can play each other & neither one of them would end up winning..... You take your kids to a game like that (whenever they end up playing each other) if you want to bore them to death, and/or show them what total failures resemble. JFK Depot Posted November 15, 2012 Share #43 Posted November 15, 2012 Did y'all take into consideration that Jackson is screwing Buss's daughter... So think about it lol You want more control of my franchise.... More Money.... Your screwing my kid... Like how much more do you want Phil lol Jerry Buss put his foot down but I think this time it might have messed him up.... And now he's locked into D'Antoni

Like how much more do you want Phil lol Jerry Buss put his foot down but I think this time it might have messed him up.... And now he's locked into D'Antoni lol.... No question that Buss has a bit of a vendetta against Phil.... But I don't think this is a case of Buss "putting his foot down" at all... If that were the case, Phil would've never been a possible candidate to coach this year's team to begin with.... D'antoni would've been hired immediately after Brown was fired..... JFK Depot Posted November 15, 2012 Share #45 Posted November 15, 2012 Phil's track record speaks for itself lol but at the same time on this go round for what Phil wanted it could have easily been handled.... Arrangements could have been made for those games he couldn't travel.... I honestly feel Buss didn't go with Phil for deeper issues than what is displayed to the public And I also believe his daughter played a role in the situation.... You just don't turn down 11 titles for a hope and a wish system ( D'Antoni )
Grand Concourse Posted November 16, 2012 Share #46 Posted November 16, 2012 Although anyone would be better than Dantoni, Jackson is old and not in the best of health. Are you expecting him to coach from a wheelchair or something? I don't think turning the clock back is the answer. The team needs a coach for the long run, not a patch for the year and keep hoping he stays forever...

Brighton Express Posted November 28, 2012 Share #49 Posted November 28, 2012 I actually heard a lot about that. It was a pretty hard fought game too. The question about the Knicks is if they can make it in the Playoffs.
Trainmaster5 Posted December 1, 2012 Share #50 Posted December 1, 2012 I just read an article on the MSN home page about the Surs being fined $ 250 K for not playing Parker, Ginoblli, and Duncan against Miami last night. David Stern says it hurt the league's integrity or something to that effect. The Heat won the game by 5 points at the end. I'm 50-50 on this one. It was a televised game, the arena was sold out, and fans paid big bucks to see the stars play. I understand that and it's probably the only time SA comes to Miami this regular season. On the other hand is the NBA league office really so stupid to schedule the SA team to play 4 games in 5 nights? As part of a 6 game road trip ? Who really is at fault here?
