6 Lexington Ave 236 #1 Posted October 11, 2012 So, I'm interested in knowing which books would you recommend on the subway. I am interested in books which deal with the history of the subway and the technical developments, are pleasant to read and, of course, factually correct. mark1447 685 #2 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) The only book I have is the Evolutions of the NYC Subway, which is pretty much from the 90s. The highest current fleet in the book, is the R142 prototype. I believe this became the successor of that book: http://www.transitmuseumstore.com/drupal/shop/books/james-clifford-greller-new-york-subway-cars-r-1-r-160-book (Links to others can be found inside) There is also another one called "Tracks of NYC Subway". If none helps, you can Google it. Edited October 11, 2012 by mark1447

AndrewJC 795 #4 Posted October 11, 2012 http://www.nycsubway.org/wiki/Subway_Bibliography If you're looking for history, I recommend Hood and Derrick in particular. For a somewhat lighter read focusing on a more recent period, Dwyer gives a nice picture of the system in the late 80's.
ttcsubwayfan 2,060 #5 Posted October 12, 2012 I enjoy Subways of the World by Stan Fischler. There's a section on the NY Subway with some nice color photos of various stock and lines. It's also good if you're interested in other subway systems aswell.
