BM5 via Woodhaven Posted October 13, 2012 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2012 I went to Woodhaven Blvd today, and I saw all the MTA BC Signs at Hoffman Drive with the NYCT signs. Has anyone heard of this, and I didnt get a photo, I'll probably go down there tomorrow. One Mistake I note is that the Q21 Signage Says "Rockaway Park", and If they are replacing more Q11/Q21 Stops, I wonder what will it say on the Q21 slot, since it says Rockaway Park on the first slot. Gotham Bus Co. Posted October 13, 2012 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2012 ...all the MTA BC Signs at Hoffman Drive with the NYCT signs. What exactly does this mean? Are they MTAB signs or NYCT signs? (Or are they NYCDOT signs showing MTAB routes?)
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 13, 2012 Share #3 Posted October 13, 2012 Well they've been changing all of the timetables out to look like the NYCT ones. The maps however still look like the old Bus ones.

NewFlyer 230 Posted October 13, 2012 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2012 So you mean that they have bus stop signs like the ones on the NYCT routes. You should get pictures to confirm it. But that's cool if MTA bus is finally starting to get rid of those 1970's-1990's bus signs.
CPBO Posted October 13, 2012 Share #6 Posted October 13, 2012 Does this mean I'm getting NYCT Pension???
Gotham Bus Co. Posted October 13, 2012 Share #7 Posted October 13, 2012 NYCT Signs, like the New York City Transit Bus Routes Have. Next question: Are you referring to the "lollipop-style" bus stop regulatory signs (which fall under D.O.T.), or to the Guide-A-Ride units (which are maintained by MTA)? Gotham Bus Co. Posted October 13, 2012 Share #9 Posted October 13, 2012 Lollipop style. I have pics that I will put in a second. Those signs are owned by the New York City Department of Transportation (because a bus stop, legally, is a parking regulation). They appear all over the city along NYCT, MTAB, NICE, and WDOT routes. Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 13, 2012 Share #11 Posted October 13, 2012 I don't see how these are different from the current signs?? Did they have the old school signs still at these stops? Otherwise these are like the usual stops.

Did they have the old school signs still at these stops? Otherwise these are like the usual stops. That's the point. MTA Bus had the old school stops (most still have them) and are replacing them with the ones NYCT use. As one can notice, the Q21 sign says Rockaway park , and so on. Please stop pretending to not understand... - NYCT and MTAB don't "use" bus stop signs - they merely stop buses at places that have the signs. - NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) owns, fabricates, and uses bus stop signs as parking regulations. - NYCDOT removed the old signs and installed the new signs (incorrectly). How was the NYCDOT incorrectly putting the signs there. It would be a blessing if all old NYCDOT bus signs get replaced with the current bus signs. At least with the newer ones you get to a least know what direction the bus is traveling in. I hope next in Jamaica and Flushing the MTAB signs get replaced. Um....no. At Baisley Park, there are a few hybrids with "black-backs" like #3767 (even though it's rear numbers are small).
The TransitMan Posted October 14, 2012 Share #24 Posted October 14, 2012 I kind of like the "lollipop" signs, especailly along the MTA Bus routes. I remmeber growing up in Jamaica and walking to the Q65 bus stop on 164th St and 85th Av and I had to figure out which "bent over pole" was the actual bus stop. LOL! NewFlyer 230 Posted October 14, 2012 Share #25 Posted October 14, 2012 Jamaica from 165th to Sutphin has the new signs on the Q6, Q8, Q9 ad Q41. I was just in that area last night I didn't see any new signs on the Q6,Q8,Q9,Q41 except for that stop between Parsons and 160st which have been their for few years. Maybe 5-6 years.
