Out of all the times I've taken the route, it's been on a weekend..... That explains why I haven't noticed the snobs... lol...

Them casino workers take the ride very seriously, especially the ones coming from philly. Lol

Where'd you hear that? From what I seen its programmed on a computer and loaded.

NJ Transit told me via customer service email that Clever Devices programs all the routes and point to point stops, because the computer screens receive the data.

from email... "The vendor has not yet turned that over to NJT, and they are currently overwhelmed with the magnitude of the job."

saw 9046 with clever device on 166T today. I was surprised to see that it still showed the #of passengers and ticket type...

Well, when the NABI's came in, that information was still shown on the Fairview buses. There was one of those at Meadowlands that did that, 5298. Since then, it was changed. I personally liked it because it was a great way to keep count of how many people I had on.

NJT has made the best app ever http://driveless.com/pdfs/CCCTMA-TL-2012.pdf

Thats courtesy of NJT's GTFS that is available for app developers

Washington Twp NABIs used to display that too, but not anymore if they operate on exact fare lines since the fare boxes were installed... if you have a NABI w/ a farebox running on a full service line, you might be still able to see the passanger count

I'm on 7468 right now on the 139 and it has them, looks like most/all of Howell's buses have the system in place now. If only it would actually call out the stops...

The whole system is getting bcuz NJT is about to do MTA bus time but on steriods at least from what they say in the classes...The MCIs do call out the stop but from what Im told by trainers and mechanics Howell and other long distance bus riders complained that for the long time they are on the buses they dont want to hear the bus announcing stops and other announcements so NJT reprogrammed the system to either not say anything or barely be audible during morning and evening rush hour. which isnt bad but when someone does press the bell for a stop the bus the YELLS out the stop name. I guess that was easier than simply giving us the ability to turn the volume up and down like on the nabis

They call out the annoying crap about monthly passes, priority seating etc. every 10 minutes. Seems to me the 139 route just isn't programmed yet except the door announcement.

Should also mention that no, the CNGs don't have the system, at least the ones I've seen. Haven't been on one in a few weeks though.

Thats because the MCI CNGs will be retired soon, so there's no point in having them

Is it possible to raise the volume on the MCI buses? I can't hear any announcements on some MCI's with clever devices

Ironbound seems to be saying that they can't do that on the MCIs. I honestly thought the announcements were just at the right volume, especially for the 139. I'm sure it's a matter of time before a 139 rider complains about the announcements, especially the random ones that come on every 10 minutes.

Anyone got any updates on Bustime/MyBusNow/whatever? There's supposed to be a systemwide rollout this spring, yet there's still buses without the Clever Devices and also I don't see Designline delivering any more cruisers. If Designline doesn't deliver fast or the order fails, that's gonna delay getting Route 9 Bustime since the MCI CNGs don't have and aren't getting Clever Devices. There's also definitely gonna be some RTSs still left by then around the state...

Also think I figured out why I saw an Academy bus with them, so they can be tracked on their 139 runs.
