Harry Posted October 17, 2012 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2012 [float=left][/float]Justifying their decision this week to revoke free train and bus rides for non-union employees, NJ Transit officials cited similar steps taken at other transportation agencies, including a vote two years ago to eliminate toll-free rides for employees on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. But the NJ Turnpike Authority, which oversees the two major toll roads, has quietly reimbursed approximately 1,900 union employees for money spent on tolls after an arbitrator ruled the authority wrongly took away the privilege, The Star-Ledger has learned.
