The (A) on Race Days

Recommended Posts

Just wondering. Why don't select (A) trains skip Aqueduct on race days? I mean by using the Express track right as you come into JFK.

I can understand maybe because the track condition is horrible, but is there any other possible reason why this does not happen?

Here's the better question, why should they skip Aqueduct? The casino has become a huge money maker.

Given the track layout there, if they do skip Aqueduct, they also have to skip Howard Beach-JFK...and I don't think you want that to happen

...aside from the fact that those tracks haven't been used in ages

And to expand on that point: Up to a 40 minute gap in service at the busiest station on that branch?

Not gonna happen. Ever. 20 minute gaps during the midday are bad enough.

Thank you Fresh Pond. I can understand what you are saying.

I agree. Both the Lefferts & Far Rock (A)'s all run every 20 minutes during middays, evenings, and weekends. At rush hour, in the reverse direction during AM and PM, they run every 10 minutes. The (A) shouldn't skip Howard Beach and Racetrack, two of the most heavily used on the IND Rockaway Line.....
