Hurricane Sandy: Before and After the Storm: Subway service

Recommended Posts

At least some of the lines are coming back by tomorrow, even if they don't run the full route. 2,4,5,B,D,F,N,Q,R are what might from what I could decipher from the governor and the Brooklyn borough president.

For the IRT anyway, it'll probably end up like a "double-Fastrack"

I could tell you exactly what will be running tomorrow. But I'll let Wallyhorse or T to Dyre Ave handle that post. Let me just say that there won't be ANYTHING to Dyre Ave for a good while......no B/Q train either, paul.

According to the MTA's Kevin Ortiz, subway service resumes at 6 a.m. Fares are back in effect, but the "bus bridges" between Manhattan and Brooklyn are free. He recommends adding 30-60 minutes to the commute, which seems low.

(F) via Queens Blvd local? Oh this is gonna be hell.

I wonder if any routes will use fleets from different lines (ex: (R) in Brooklyn using fleet from CI)

Man I heard that the Whitehall - South Ferry station is under water up to the ceiling! :o

I would be cool if they sent a scuba diver to take photos of the station completely under water, especially Whitehall Street with that R160 that was left in the station.

MTA officials say the Joralemon St. Tunnel (4)(5), the Rutgers St. Tunnel (F) and the Clark St. Tunnel (2)(3) have been pumped. Crews still need to inspect these tubes for damage before restoring service, and water remains in the Montague St. Tunnel (R), the Cranberry St. Tunnel (A)(C), the 14th St. Tunnel (L) and the Steinway Tubes (7).
