Majority of Americans racist towards blacks, finds new study

Agreed. These stats does'nt exactly confirm or match up with the actual experiences of people having to deal with this aspect of hatred as symptom of a troubled society. Direct, indirect or reverse racism of this magnitude or whatever the case may be. I know what I know, and I'm staying put on the fact that this situation is not getting better, it is getting worse for everybody.

....is why I don't put too much stock into statistics....

....is why I didn't bother looking at this study/survey & w/e it entailed....

Well at least you bothered to delve into the intricacies of this study & questioned it there-afterwards..... Way I look at it, 51% or whatever the number was, has no bearing on me.... I don't need the majority - All it takes is one racist person to try to take my ass out, on the sole basis of me being black....

It reminds me of the time you quoted Homer and said "facts are meaningless, they can be used to prove anything".

But yeah, that's what I was trying to get at. There is still a significant amount of racism out there, but it isn't as much as the article is making it out to be.

  • 2 weeks later...

Being a black teenager, I've had my shares of racist people. I was harassed at the mall (not going to say which one) by one of those mall cops who think they rule the f***ing place because they have a "badge".

One time, I was on twitter and I read a tweet that said this:

"Good p***y will have n****s doin 95mph in a 35mph zone... With a suspended license... A broke headlight... And weed in the whip.."

Now I'm not a self-hating black teen, but when I first read this, I immediately knew some ignorant black teen wrote this. I've been seeing a lot of tweets like this that label black people as "ratchet" which were surprisingly wrote by blacks themselves. Stuff like that pisses me off big time. Its like making fun of yourself.

Now on interracial relationships, I don't care if the girl is Spanish, Asian, Black, or Caucasian. Love is love. No matter what race. I for one want to date a Spanish or Caucasian girl more-so than a black girl. But that's just me.

It is shameful to know we live in such a beautiful devloped country, and still today in 2012 half the population holds racist views such as these.

I may not be Black, but I've experienced racism from those racist towards Hispanics.(I'm from Mexican ancestry).

I will say something though. I dated a black woman, and while I wouldn't say people were objecting to our realtionship at the time, we got the occasional stare, and I got some crap from my friends (well they sometimes critic my black friends, male or female), but I will say this. Though in our situation it didn't work out, I'm glad that we broke through the walls of adversity and enjoyed a wonderful time, damn whatever anyone else said. In fact, it warms my heart when I see inter-racial couples out in stride, especially in an area in it would be shunned.

You know what is hilarious most of these so called racists can't even stop a black guy from getting a 2nd term. Hispanics are the new majority so these weak racists no longer even have a voice anymore they are just human shit. Nothing they do will stop us they got owned in the election and eventually they will suck it up and give up. They are obsolete and powerless as proven by our current president.

To be honest, I wouldn't consider the re-election of the president the best example, if one at all, but yes, these people will soon be out of the mainstream.

I don't think we'll see Hispanics be the majority for a long time. As of now we're about 16% of the population, whereas Whites make up about 65% of the population. And just pointing it out, but it is possible for Hispanics to be racist. (I mean, Hispanics aren't a monolithic group. There are those of European descent, Native American descent, and African descent, though many/most are some combination of the three). Obviously, most aren't, but there's always the exceptions you have to watch out for.

And keep in mind that the definition of "White" is constantly changing. Back in the early 1900s, the Irish, Italians, and Jews weren't considered "White", and now they are.

But yes, while there will always be those who are racist (whether open or closeted), the country is definitely becoming more accepting as a whole. I remember in my history class, we learned that there were actually some racist presidents. I know Woodrow Wilson was one of them, and I think Andrew Jackson was another one. Obviously, that wouldn't fly today.

Just me talking here but I think the signs of hope are there. I have noticed that there are changes in Harlem as of late as to demographics. There are many Japanese nationals and Asian American US citizens in general, who are moving into Harlem, and that has been the trend for some years now. There is much mingling between Asian Americans and Afro Americans in that area. It's beautiful and refreshing to me.

Seriously I'll take Harlem over say Coney Island or even say SoHo or the Village on a hot summer day any day. This neighborhood is seriously making moves as a unified community. It seriously moves my heart, I may actually move down here from the Bronx, I'm seriously considering it as I enjoy cultural diversity in New York neighborhoods. Contrary to popular belief and even what shit news mediums as the Daily News tells you, Harlem is an awesome neighborhood to live in.

Point is that many persons of other nationalities are not seeing people by the color of their skin. The overwhelming majority of Asian Americans (stats are there) who voted for Obama's re-election proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt. (And as a disclamer to the hardliners I did not vote this year!)

Lived in Harlem for 3 years, I can agree to that.

So how do you fix it? How do you solve the problem such that it doesn't impede our freedom of speech and that it doesn't cause more contempt for other people

As for me, Good people come in all shapes sizes and colors, and you can never really know someone unless you get to know them ;)

Unfortunately there is no easy workable solution in order.

But we are naturally drawn to other people because we are only human. We all came from one source. The intepretation of that source depends on the religious and/or educational background behind each person's understanding of the dynamics of American and global society, but the fact remains we are all human, period. As for racism, that is a symptom of social degeneration and decay that evolved over centuries due to many causes that cannot be easily solved unfortunately.

If we don't fix it, it may be the means of us as a human family. In all seriousness. I took my rose colored glasses off a long time ago so I am not speaking out of a feel good attitude or a false hope. I really sincerely believe that eradication of racism will solve the larger percentage of this country's problems. We however need to expect much growing pains during such an ongoing transition. I've accepted this a long time ago too.

as society grows and evolves it'll pass in time, the causes were ideals and beliefs passed down from generation to generation over the course of hundreds of years. We are in an age where you can talk to people from all over the world over the internet, where you can find anything you want to know about any culture in a quick google search. New Yorkers live in a city full of immigrants from all over the world. When new generations grow up in an environment of so many diverse people they are less likely to harbor prejudice over certain people if they are around them every day and get to know them.

On the other hand, I feel that it is very important we dont misuse the calls of racism for things like differing political views or general unpolitical correctness, to go after petty things like that dilutes the charge and people become less likely to care and thus the real problems become ignored.

Well I don't personally trust most politicians at all as I don't support socialism or capitalism in general. The reason I brought Obama into the discussion as a side point is beacuse it it is clear that having the first Afro-American US president, two terms now, obviously influenced the world in a significant way. It also shows the changing global attitudes towards Afro Americans, Democrat or not. That was not my point. Thank you.

OK well considering the problems as you well heard concerning the unrest in the Philly schools as of late which went viral even on the net, with that turnout in votes that says alot in terms of what you are actually reading and conveying to me as references. This particular we seem to be harping on is not a simple black on white issue. Apple and oranges really.

And of course I'm not excusing the actions of the perps in these situations at all. I just happen to see the big picture here.

well i will say that at least a certain percentage of those votes were for racist reasons, if we are to come together, where are the leaders like obama, sharpton, jackson, farrakhan, why are they not looking into it

You caught my comment before I can edit it. That's fine you are timely on your responses.

I will say this, much of the views of Sharpton or Farrakan among others I don't even believe in. This should be a moot point, we have reverse racists out there in the 21st century, that's a given. However that's the way I would feel about Romney as well.

See how bad things have become on race relations? No one has the answer and of course I don't expect them to. I despise reverse racism as much as you apparently do yourself that I would admit although not in the same context as you put it.

Well yes indeed, like I said, racism in all forms needs to be eradicated from society altogether, and again as much as I wished it to happen, it will not happen anytime soon as the symptoms of this societal disease is perplexing. After all again we are all only human and that would be the ideal as that is fact. We all bleed red no matter what.

Silly Fools There's no such thing as reverse racism

But seriously though some individual on this planet has some sort of hate towards a race group because some are just so ignorant that there blaming there own problem's on Race just so they can feel better about them self's and don't face there problem's head on. <_<

Example

Tom:That ****** took my job

Steve: it Not the black mans fault that he took your Job, management thought it would be cheaper to hire him and does double the work then you.I recommend you take them to court for firing you for no reason.

Tom:but that ****** took my job, f**k ******s

Steve: <_<
