Q25toJamaica Posted July 23, 2008 Share #26 Posted July 23, 2008 The 9250 series has platformed rows of seats, and is split between QV and Jamaica. Btw, is that 8500 at BP a Nova or TMC? It has that older dest. sign, but it doesnt have a vent on one side, I didnt see the other.

Bus has only three builders in its entire regular fleet, TMC, MCI, and Orion. There were a few New Flyers at BP and Yonkers has a Prevost Demo though. I updated your visual aid. Thanks for posting! I wasn't too sure of the years. Minor correction, RTSes built after from 1992-1994 are TMCs and 1995-2003 are Novas. The NYCDOT RTS from 1994 are TMCs while NJT's RTS are Novas. Never knew MTS assigned an RTS-0# number to the "Legend".
East New York Posted July 23, 2008 Share #28 Posted July 23, 2008 The 9250 series has platformed rows of seats, and is split between QV and Jamaica. 9250-9349 were all Suburban at one time. A few 9250's have been re-fited with hard seats. Ulmer Park Depot has some as well. 9301-9341
Harry Posted July 23, 2008 Author Share #29 Posted July 23, 2008 Good informative discussion. So overall how would you guys rate the success of the RTS fleet?
Ken S. Posted July 23, 2008 Share #30 Posted July 23, 2008 Good informative discussion. So overall how would you guys rate the success of the RTS fleet? That's what happens when you don't have troublemakers hijacking every thread. Having ridden GM, TMC, and Nova RTS buses, it's a shame that MTS couldn't secure a (NYCT) order for the RTS LF. An (NYCT) order plus the (NJT) order would have been great for MTS. Maybe, just maybe the RTS LF would work better then the O7 on some of the city streets. Hopefully, they would demo out a RTS LF.
East New York Posted July 23, 2008 Share #32 Posted July 23, 2008 Throughout history, MTA has set the standard for the RTS. They were the only TA along with NJT to demo the hybrid. MTA rejected it twice, so it never got a footing. MTA as well as Detroit DOT, and LA MTA made the bus popular, and I don't think another bus will ever succeed the sucess, popularity, style, or legend of the RTS. The number 2 bus would be the GMC New Look. The only other bus thay may one day hit this mark is the New Flyer 40LF's. But IMO nothing will ever be as legendary as the RTS or New Look. Pablo M 201 Posted July 23, 2008 Share #33 Posted July 23, 2008 Good informative discussion. So overall how would you guys rate the success of the RTS fleet? The RTS would get a 10/10 for style, reliability, class, history, number of them. Its just a great all around bus. Almost every TA that has or had RTSs used them well. Almost every TA that has or had RTSs used them well. Not to mention every major TA in the United States (inc. Puerto Rico), and the largest in Canada operated them at one time or another.
