lgis Posted November 1, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 1, 2012 Can anyone give me some help with routing a trip from 42nd st to the Fort Hamilton stop on the F Train? Anyone have any ideas with the service changes? what would be the quickest way?
Harry Posted November 1, 2012 Share #2 Posted November 1, 2012 Board a shuttle bus, I believe you can get one along 42nd Street (get more info) and take it to Jay Street-Metro Tech. There you can board an train towards the Fort Hamilton Parkway station. Look for the Jay Street-Metro Tech shuttle bus service.
lgis Posted November 1, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted November 1, 2012 Do you know how long the shuttle will take? and will it be very crowded, as in will i have to wait for multiple shuttles to come through till i can get on one?
FamousNYLover Posted November 1, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 1, 2012 No. It's along Lexington and 3rd Avs. I think it might be better to spend $4 for East River Ferry to DUMBO and walk over to Jay St station for train since East River Ferry resumes regular service. Harry Posted November 1, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 1, 2012 Leaving Manhattan shouldn't be too bad. Might be some crowding but I would guess not much. I boarded a shuttle bus this morning from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center into Manhattan to Union Square. It wasn't too bad. The trip took about one hour and fifteen minutes. That shuttle bus left me on 14th Street and 3rd Avenue. 42nd Street and 3rd will be your best bet or the ferry as per Yuki's post.
lgis Posted November 1, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted November 1, 2012 is there a faster way to get to the jay st. station than the bus if it's truly over an hour ?
lgis Posted November 1, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted November 1, 2012 is the traffic bad enough that if i were to go over to the east side and get in a cab it would take a long time and be a lot of money? if i took it to jay st.?
FamousNYLover Posted November 1, 2012 Share #8 Posted November 1, 2012 East River Ferry leaves from 34th St Pier The ferries will run on two modified routes: a northern loop, making stops at North Williamsburg, Long Island City, and East 34th Street; and a southern loop, making stops at North Williamsburg, Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO, and Wall Street/Pier 11. There will be free transfers at North Williamsburg. In addition, NY Waterway will continue to operate its free bus service from E34thStreet on a limited schedule throughout the day. peacemak3r Posted November 1, 2012 Share #9 Posted November 1, 2012 Leaving Manhattan right now, the shuttle buses shouldn't be that bad. A little later during rush hours, yeah that's another story.
FamousNYLover Posted November 1, 2012 Share #10 Posted November 1, 2012 During rush hour, East River Ferry offers shuttle bus, and I think it's best if you flag blue BUS wrapped ferry shuttle bus marked East River Ferry or maybe regular ferry shuttle buses might be used (which is blue, red, white) which goes to E. 34th St Pier. Or from 42nd St, it's best to walk to pier, take ferry shuttle to N. 6th St, Williamsburg, which will be free transfer to ferry to DUMBO.
