Trainspotter Posted June 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2007 It's radio ga ga as subway goes silent for 2 hrs. Dispatchers at the SUBWAY system's high-tech control center lost radio contact with all trains yesterday for nearly two hours. The problems at the midtown center, which has so far cost NYC Transit more than $200 million to build, forced NYC Transit to jump-start a backup command center in Brooklyn. Transit spokesman Charles Seaton said it was unclear why radio communications were lost at 11 a.m. Though trains' movements were still being monitored out of the backup center last night, Seaton said, rider safety was not in jeopardy. He said signals continued to function and motormen were able to talk to a second tier of dispatchers.
Tracknut Posted June 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 15, 2007 That's refreshing to hear. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.
