Harry Posted November 6, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2012 [float=left][/float]The unblinking eye of the camera is increasingly all around us. On the street corner, inside the convenience store, in office building lobbies — not to mention in the hands of everyone with a cellphone. So it's not surprising that the Maryland Transit Administration's plan to activate microphones on buses is raising concerns about privacy. But while there is a good conversation to be had about the slippery slope of lost privacy in Baltimore and elsewhere, this doesn't appear to be the place to draw the line. Chargerdodge9 Posted November 6, 2012 Share #2 Posted November 6, 2012 They are doing the same thing as our MTA (except the recording part).
Turbo19 Posted November 7, 2012 Share #3 Posted November 7, 2012 I wouldn't care. It's not like they have the time to listen to the bullshit from every rider, nor would I see the purpose of doing so.
qjtransitmaster Posted November 7, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 7, 2012 can't wait to see the benefits I hope they do it on their commuter lines as they are the only means of transit service for many areas to reach DC I hope those get boosted service hour spans beyond rush hour. I use MTA maryland routes every time I visit the people need better connections and fast service. They also need a fast transit alternative to the I-695 disaster it's baltimore's version of the gonowhere.
NYCRailfan523 Posted November 7, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 7, 2012 Privacy should be given a way but there should be microphones for the driver so he/she can announce what's the next bus stop.
nostalgia Posted November 7, 2012 Share #6 Posted November 7, 2012 All the MTA will hear is a voice unless the objective is to match the voice with the person on a survelliance camera.
