Does anyone know if these buses are still on NJT property or were they sold or disposed of ?

Last seen sitting (all 15 of them) in a lot next to 1&9 in North Bergen.

No, should be only 13. NJT did not get 7203 and 7215. I don't think we'll ever see these buses in service again, unless NJT gets really really desperate or all 147 MCI CNG buses out of Howell break down all at once.

(Should we unpin this?)

It's 13, they don't have 7202 or 7203. 7202 went back for spec changes, and 7203 was the demo bus that went all over the place.

Might as well unpin this.

Thanks Shane. The Designline company's US operations couldn't support the volume and approach the excellence that MCI has proven themselves capable of over and over again. MCI has delivered 3,219 buses to NJT since 1982 (up to bus 18080 on the current contract) with many more to come.

NJT's attempts at doing "something different" have always stabbed them in the back - the Eagle AE-20's which they couldn't get rid of fast enough after 12 years of service, the Millennium debacle, and Designline. Hopefully the fourth time will be a charm when the Proterra electric buses make their debut on the mean streets of Camden.

Proterra hasn't disappointed yet, I think. So long as NJT doesn't destroy those buses with custom spec requirements, they should do fine.

This is exactly why New Flyer is treading lightly with the next artic order. NJ Transit has taken almost every one of the bus manufacturers they purchased from, with the exception of Neoplan, to court.

They took Nova to court because the 2500s and 2600s were having some major problems when they were new, same for the 1998s-1999s.
They took MCI to court over THEIR OWN SPECS on the FIRST batch of D4000s(the majority were built with RTS parts, so they can be compatible with the RTS and to lower maintenance costs, thats why most ride so badly), the D4500CLs with the updated rear(the engine compartment and the electrical systems were customized to a point where the buses were failing altogether), and most recently with the D4500CT CNGs. They wanted MCI to change the engine spec from an ISL-G to an ISX-G, but was denied.
They almost took NABI to court after the 5200s and 5300s were falling apart on the inside when they were new.

Nova can't make artics for NJ Transit because they said that they cannot fit all of their components in a bus shorter than 62ft. The LFS Artics also don't meet the state axle requirements from what I hear.

They are most definitely leaning towards the Xcelsior. It's just a matter of when they'll get them.
