Dual-Mode diesels have been on NJT's to-do list for years....it actually was even talked about when the 1st phase of the Aldene connector (the tracks that re-routed the :rvl: from Jersey City to Newark) was complete...the 2nd phase was supposed to be to purchase dual mode locomotives so trains from the :rvl: can operate directly into NY since the connection to the :nec: exisist....but those plans obviously failed to materialize....hoepfully they will actually go thru this time...

This would mean west trenton re-activation is a real possibility. Would also be neat if (SEPTA) ordered a few for the R8 (newtown branch currently ends at fox chase where the electrification ends). Also, this means that MNRR could lease them and operate through the empire connection. I just hope whatever they churn out it doesn't end up like the E60.
