Pablo M 201 35 Posted July 24, 2008 Share #3 Posted July 24, 2008 Yup. Seems as though NJT and Bombardier have become good partners. Can't wait for the product. It should be very interesting....
Jamaica Express 27 Posted July 24, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 24, 2008 Dual-Mode diesels have been on NJT's to-do list for years....it actually was even talked about when the 1st phase of the Aldene connector (the tracks that re-routed the :rvl: from Jersey City to Newark) was complete...the 2nd phase was supposed to be to purchase dual mode locomotives so trains from the :rvl: can operate directly into NY since the connection to the :nec: exisist....but those plans obviously failed to materialize....hoepfully they will actually go thru this time... This would mean west trenton re-activation is a real possibility. Would also be neat if (SEPTA) ordered a few for the R8 (newtown branch currently ends at fox chase where the electrification ends). Also, this means that MNRR could lease them and operate through the empire connection. I just hope whatever they churn out it doesn't end up like the E60. - Andy
