itmaybeokay Posted November 26, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 26, 2012 Traction Motor. I don't think he's talking about the traction motor noise. When the train is stopped there's a different solid high pitched whine. Not sure if the inverters have any load on them when the train is stopped but that could be it. StevenFrancis Posted November 26, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 26, 2012 Its just the motor when it's on, if it was the HVAC it would emit a soft hum unlike the extremely loud buzzing noise of the R142.
Subwayfan12 Posted November 26, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted November 26, 2012 I think it's the aircon? I doubt it because sometimes when the hvac is off I can still hear the ringing

6 Lexington Ave Posted November 27, 2012 Share #8 Posted November 27, 2012 If you go under the el on the pelham and the train is standing above you, you hear this same sound.
