Runaways in the Subway

There is a way for this to happen, but is so unlikely that its nearly impossible. First, there must be a fault with the signal system and not have the 2 block system engaged. And one the train reaches a fast enough speed(Think of 350 mph+, where in most cases the train would have derailed already), if it reaches any red signal it could possibly breeze though it by destroying the arm. Then you also must have the circuit breakers be broken so that it can not turn off any electricity in the system, and where the lines are unable to be cut, and ConEd can not shut off the electricity. Then you also have the Emergency brake lines cut on every car of the train, and you have the propulsion locked on to move.

The odds of this happening are about 1 in INFINITY.

Once the laws of physics that would keep a subway from reaching 350mph are no longer in effect, sure. this is a definite possibility. Thankfully the laws of physics no longer being in effect, we would no longer have to take the subway as toyota tercels could achieve spaceflight and one could jump from brooklyn to manhattan after eating a triple quarter pounder with cheese.
