Rockway Parkway S service idea?

Recommended Posts

The S train got me thinking why not have a S train running between Broadway Junction and rock way parkway while leaving the L to terminate at broadway junction during maintenance on L? S can skip at least 2 stations on northbound while southbound can not skip any station. Is this a good idea?

No. if the line is shutdown for work, then there is a reason for it. If we send a train through the work zone, it slows down the work. a project that would take two weekends might then need 4.

It's always been best to have shuttle buses between the stations while work is being done. It's safer and faster for both the passengers and track worker when nothing interrupts the process of any kind of work needed to be done.

Common sense says… if a train isn't running along a segment, no trains will.

Very rarely does two track systems have any service at all during a major GO. Often one track is used to stage equipment for work on the other track.

WMATA has always used lots of single-tracking-based trackwork, and continues to, even as it expanded busing to non-holiday weekends in a couple years ago.

That system doesnt run 24/7 either, so the burden to get a certain amount of work done per unit of time is less.

I knew just by reading the title that there was going to be a really stupid idea in the OP.
