South African Airways | US Airways codeshare agreement

South African Airways and fellow Star Alliance member US Airways have announced a new bilateral codeshare agreement after receiving approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Department of Transport – South Africa.

Along with the convenience of a single-ticket purchase and seamless travel, customers traveling on South African Airways will gain access to US Airways’ hub cities of Charlotte, N.C., Philadelphia and Phoenix as well as various destinations within the United States.

US Airways customers will have access to South African Airways’ hub in Johannesburg as well as convenient connections to Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth in South Africa. Customers will also have access to Dakar, Senegal (pending government approval) via South African Airways’ Washington-Dulles to Johannesburg service.

Members of the airlines' frequent flyer programs will continue to have the ability to earn and redeem miles on these new codeshare flights.

One of my dreams is to do a business class trip around the world, and from what I have seen so far, Star Alliance is definitely the way to go. They offer many more options than the other airline alliances. Their Book and Fly feature is amazing and fun to use.
