Orion VII 4474 Posted December 23, 2012 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2012 I was on XD40 4887 on friday, and I couldn't help but to hear every time the bus was about open the doors, there would be a beep about a second long. Can anyone tell me what that beeping is.
QM1to6Ave Posted December 23, 2012 Share #2 Posted December 23, 2012 I hear that beeping the entire trip on some of the LFS's. So annoying, especially to the B/O.
B17EastNewYorkDepot Posted December 23, 2012 Share #3 Posted December 23, 2012 Yes it is very annoying but for NFI buses that noise is activated every time the turn signal is on
MHV9218 Posted December 23, 2012 Share #4 Posted December 23, 2012 There's a noise that the bus makes if the B/O has opened the front doors and unlocked the rear doors while the bus is still in motion, if that's what you're referring to. On the OGs at least it has to do with the interlocking system.
Acela Express Posted December 23, 2012 Share #5 Posted December 23, 2012 MHV9218 is correct. It happens with every bus actually, even the RTS'... The doors won't open until the bus comes to a complete stop. And with the LFSAs, if the front doors are open and you begin moving more than 5mph, the doors automatically close. RFC Posted December 23, 2012 Share #6 Posted December 23, 2012 I hear the beeping sometimes on the Orion 7's when I am riding the Q18, Q67, and sometimes on the Q58 but most likely on the Q67 It can be annoying for everyone including the bus driver, I guess its the bus having the back doors unlocked or something like some of y'all said. QM1to6Ave Posted December 23, 2012 Share #7 Posted December 23, 2012 I don't think it is the alert that Acela is referring to. This is a soft "bing" noise that literally goes on for the ENTIRE trip on the LFS's on the Q46. It has nothing to do with the doors being opened. Olegkha Posted December 24, 2012 Share #8 Posted December 24, 2012 Unlocking the doors before the bus comes to a complete stop will make the beep sound. If you have an beeky on the bus you in trouble

That's the turn signal as well...all New Flyer buses we have and LFS/As we have also have a turn signal sound
Kingsbridge Bus Posted December 25, 2012 Share #10 Posted December 25, 2012 There is a guy on the Bx35 who will do this from about a block away from the bus stop (depending how long the block is) and I would hear the beeping sound for the entire block. Good thing he drives decently fast.
QM1to6Ave Posted December 25, 2012 Share #11 Posted December 25, 2012 That's the turn signal as well...all New Flyer buses we have and LFS/As we have also have a turn signal sound Got it. I'm guessing that means these B/O's have their hazards flashing for the whole trip, which I've seen in the past. I'll look more closely nexttime I hear the constant beeping.
