Subwayfan12 Posted December 27, 2012 #1 Posted December 27, 2012 Does anyone by chance have all the IRT route programs for the R142/A? Just curious about the different programs they have available for the routes It would be very much appreciated

User Posted December 27, 2012 #3 Posted December 27, 2012 Wrong section, you created two of these threads, and you tagged "photos" when there are no photos lol

Snowblock Posted December 27, 2012 #5 Posted December 27, 2012 The and only have the base programs - 242 to/from South Ferry and 148 to/from New Lots. There are multiple programs for all of the other lines, including a really odd 148 to Flatbush via Lexington and from Main St to 34-Penn Station (which I think might be a placeholder for the 34-Javits). The 2/4/5/6/7 have just about every combination (except for the to South Ferry, strangely enough....but there's a to Bowling Green via 7 Av so you can skip out the last stop to make it a to South Ferry)
Grand Concourse Posted December 27, 2012 #6 Posted December 27, 2012 Interesting, they have 'out of the ordinary' combos, but the 'most common' is not even listed? If crews didn't think to use the bowling green announcements, would they use the default chambers st program?
Snowblock Posted December 27, 2012 #7 Posted December 27, 2012 Yeah when they did that Dyre-South Ferry GO, crews were instructed to make manual announcements down to E180, and then load the 241-Chambers program (there isn't a Dyre-Chambers program but there IS a Dyre-South Ferry program!). A couple of C/R's are slick with the TOD and did the Bowling Green skip out instead, and some others loaded the 242-South Ferry program once they got south of 42 St. Going N/B, C/Rs would activate the Flatbush-Dyre program once they got to Chambers St.
Amtrak7 Posted December 27, 2012 #8 Posted December 27, 2012 Exactly how does one go from 148 to the Lex without a reverse move?
Snowblock Posted December 27, 2012 #9 Posted December 27, 2012 I don't know. I've tried to load that program on multiple sets and it gives an error message. The to 34-Penn Station has 34 right after Times Square so *FOAMER ALERT* this is concrete evidence that the MTA is planning on building a loop track between the Flushing and 7 Av line.
Grand Concourse Posted December 27, 2012 #10 Posted December 27, 2012 Musing alert* (If they were to build an actual connection from the 7th av line and the flushing 7 line, that would make train moves much easier by cutting out b division altogether.) But whoa 34th penn?
Subwayfan12 Posted December 27, 2012 Author #11 Posted December 27, 2012 I don't know. I've tried to load that program on multiple sets and it gives an error message. The to 34-Penn Station has 34 right after Times Square so *FOAMER ALERT* this is concrete evidence that the MTA is planning on building a loop track between the Flushing and 7 Av line. What 34th street-Penn Station would that be?
Snowblock Posted December 28, 2012 #12 Posted December 28, 2012 Okay, before this gets escalated any further, I need to clarify for those of you who are unable to detect sarcasm that I was JOKING about that Flushing/7 Av connection, but that program to 34-Penn St is real. I've never actually heard the 34-Penn announcement since there's no way to get it to play (since it is the last stop) without actually taking the train on the road and setting it up. Any T/O's in A-Div want to give this a try on their next layup? My guess is that it's a placeholder for when they add 34-Javits station, although the R160's have programs for the to 72 St-2 Av and 96 St-2 Av in there too.
Snowblock Posted December 28, 2012 #13 Posted December 28, 2012 Oh and for the record, the voice of the and is NOT Dianne Thompson. She only did the and (and did not, as has been widely believed around here, record anything for the B-Div). I don't know the name, but I don't think she recorded anything in B-Div either. Supposedly the will get all new recordings before the 188's go into service, since stations like Willets Pt and Court Square (not to mention Javits) need new recordings.
Subwayfan12 Posted December 28, 2012 Author #14 Posted December 28, 2012 It's probably Catherine or Kathleen because most of the announcements from current service changes or reroutes includes their voices especially on the IRT
Snowblock Posted December 28, 2012 #15 Posted December 28, 2012 Annie Bergen did the original and announcements.
Subwayfan12 Posted December 28, 2012 Author #16 Posted December 28, 2012 Annie Bergen did the original and announcements. Never heard of her. BTW do you have any recordings of her?
Snowblock Posted December 28, 2012 #17 Posted December 28, 2012 Well how many times did you ride a 142 on the or ? There are recordings of some of those announcements somewhere, but I don't have any handy. Youtube?
