jgood6195 Posted January 2, 2013 #1 Posted January 2, 2013 What do you guys think? Flatbush ave sure is wide enough and does get decent ridership? Should the MTA replace the limited with +SBS+?
Fresh Pond Posted January 2, 2013 #2 Posted January 2, 2013 Already talked about many times, its not gonna happen.
mtattrain Posted January 2, 2013 #4 Posted January 2, 2013 What do you guys think? Flatbush ave sure is wide enough and does get decent ridership? Should the MTA replace the limited with +SBS+? They could, and they're planning to, but ditto to everyone's responses (for now)
mtattrain Posted January 2, 2013 #6 Posted January 2, 2013 Why did you make two threads? Probably an accident... that happens sometimes.
User Posted January 2, 2013 #7 Posted January 2, 2013 Why did you make two threads? The real question is why did he make four accounts on this forum?!
Quill Depot Posted January 2, 2013 #8 Posted January 2, 2013 The real question is why did he make four accounts on this forum?! He seems cool... I don't find anything wrong with Jgood.
Threxx Posted January 2, 2013 #10 Posted January 2, 2013 What do you guys think? Flatbush ave sure is wide enough and does get decent ridership? Should the MTA replace the limited with +SBS+? Nope, Flatbush is way too small, especially between Nostrand Avenue and Empire Blvd... The dollar vans would also cause too many problems.
Rick44 Posted January 2, 2013 #13 Posted January 2, 2013 Though it's photoshopped, it does seem legit.
jgood6195 Posted January 2, 2013 Author #14 Posted January 2, 2013 Well, they could just create new bus lanes to the street. However, I think that when heading towards Downtown, the B41 +SBS+ could head straight to Tillary street instead of going up Livingston street. That would cause traffic tie ups. And who knows, maybe every other westbound trip on rushhours could go to Canal street via Manhattan Bridge.
error46146 Posted January 2, 2013 #15 Posted January 2, 2013 ... No. There is no place to lay over a bus at Canal Street.
jgood6195 Posted January 2, 2013 Author #16 Posted January 2, 2013 ... No. There is no place to lay over a bus at Canal Street. Add new bus lanes.
Fresh Pond Posted January 2, 2013 #17 Posted January 2, 2013 Add new bus lanes. Have you ever been on Canal St, especially by the bridge? Its a traffic suicide over there. Bus lanes will not solve everything...
Threxx Posted January 2, 2013 #18 Posted January 2, 2013 Add new bus lanes. Which people will abuse... there is no way you're fixing traffic over there... It can't happen, plain and simple...
jgood6195 Posted January 2, 2013 Author #19 Posted January 2, 2013 Have you ever been on Canal St, especially by the bridge? Its a traffic suicide over there. Bus lanes will not solve everything... It would only be 1 or 2 artic buses at any giving moment.
jgood6195 Posted January 2, 2013 Author #20 Posted January 2, 2013 Which people will abuse... there is no way you're fixing traffic over there... It can't happen, plain and simple... Okay, take away the Manhattan rushhour service. It could still work by ending it on Tillary.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted January 2, 2013 #22 Posted January 2, 2013 I think perhaps a hybrid version of the SBS service could be offered on the B41. I don't think that a depot not having room should decide whether or not a route that could use SBS should get it or not. Quite frankly, one could argue that in addition to the B44, the B41 and B46 are both viable candidates for SBS service as they both serve several dense, urban communities and see high ridership.
jgood6195 Posted January 2, 2013 Author #23 Posted January 2, 2013 Wasn't Grand Ave depot also due for artics? Wasn't that the point of them giving the B43 back to Gleason last year (2011)?
Cait Sith Posted January 2, 2013 #24 Posted January 2, 2013 He seems cool... I don't find anything wrong with Jgood. Add new bus lanes. It would only be 1 or 2 artic buses at any giving moment. 1. There's no place in Canal Street to turn around a bus. 2. Canal Street is divided in sections where bus lanes can't and won't work. 3. There is too much traffic along the corridor from East to West.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted January 2, 2013 #25 Posted January 2, 2013 And what would be the point of extending it into Manhattan anyway? When I worked near Brooklyn Heights, most of those buses I'd see would empty out down there near Downtown anyway...
