FamousNYLover Posted January 3, 2013 #1 Posted January 3, 2013 Beside July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest, there's another champion. Even thought it's in Japanese, you could clearly understand by picture and videos.

Turbo19 Posted January 4, 2013 #3 Posted January 4, 2013 cool? Speaking of the hot dog eating contest, whatever happened to Kobayashi? It's funny you ask that. I didn't hear much about him for a while until last year. Apparently, he has very recently participated in other eating challenges as well. This past August, he participated in a taco eating contest that was co-sponsored by "Chronic Tacos" (a Californian chain) and by the punk band "The Offspring", which I attended as a spectator. You can read more about it below. In the link, there is also some information on why he no longer participates in the Coney Island events. http://www.gringobandito.com/tacochallenge/pressrelease.html I'm not much of a fan on competitive eating, rather I'm a huge fan of The Offspring more than anything, so this is just purely coincidental to say the least.

Thanks for the link. As for the last statement there, I'm not gonna lie.... At one point & time, I had wanted to enter the hot dog eating contest.... But once I learned that you can't just cherry pick the foods you want to eat in these eating competitions (well that, and it being a full fledged "league" of sorts), I discarded those hopes quickly.... If Nathans hot dogs wadn't so dam expensive (they're almost 4 bucks a pop), I could easily eat 20 with a bun (or like 30 w/o one) on a good day..... Last I heard, the one down in CI (thanks to the storm) won't be open til sometime this spring; but I'm not banking on that though...... To get the frozen ones from the supermarket here'll run you around 5 bucks - if you can find em.... All they have here are those Sabrett's (which have fallen off IMO)......

Well competitive eating isn't much of a bad thing at all, it just requires a lot of commitment for nearly all your life. Something I wouldn't nessecarily want to do.

It's like, they eat what the competition requires you to eat.... For instance, I'm not eating 60 something taco's in 15 minutes (one of kobayashi's records) - You aint gettin me to eat one of those things..... Same goes for bratwurst's (sausages)....
