Pakenhamtrain 82 #1 Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) From the Manly Daily Blue over green Forest Coach Lines buses 11 Jan 13 @ 04:48pm by Charis Chang FOREST Coach Lines is appealing to the state government to let it keep its distinctive green and white fleet instead of changing to blue. The state government requires all bus operators in Sydney to adopt a standard blue and white design for buses. As part of a tender process last year Forest Coach Lines agreed to change the colours on its new buses but is now hoping for an exemption. Managing director David Royle said his family had been operating in the area for 85 years and the current branding is more than 40 years old. http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/news/story/blue-over-green-forest-coach-lines-buses/ It's intresting that when Forrest got the intial contract for MBSC region 14 they recived an excemption from the TNSW livery. I'm guessing this time with all the bus regions changing slightly (Region 14 now comes under 8) TNSW put thier foot down. The contracts do say that every new bus bought for route service and every refurb funded by TNSW must be in the blue and white livery. The contracts even boil down to "Here's a list of chassis and bodys you can buy" I'd imagine if Forrest play hardball TNSW will be more than happy to not award them anything. Aussieinuk 83 #2 Posted January 14, 2013 The state govt is paying for the buses, so I guess they can say what colour they want them. if "Forest" want to keep their own livery they would risk losing the contract. There would be many companies lining up to take over those services. It seems Sydney wants to adopt a similar scheme to London where all the buses in the city and metro are branded the same. Pakenhamtrain 82 #3 Posted January 15, 2013 It seems Sydney wants to adopt a similar scheme to London where all the buses in the city and metro are branded the same. They do. It's really no different to Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane(well the non council buses anyway) Although in Perth and Adelaide the state government owns the fleet. Now only if melbourne could get on with it.
