itmaybeokay Posted January 18, 2013 #1 Posted January 18, 2013 EDIT: Firstly, upon closer inspection that is an R44 - one of the cars scheduled to be reefed I believe. (if a mod can change the title that would be awesome...) Had a video shoot way uptown this morning - walking to the 191st St station afterwords, I hear a series of truck horns, and turned around to see a hell of a thing.
Orion VII 4 Life Posted January 18, 2013 #2 Posted January 18, 2013 That's an R44 actually, going to scrap. Nice catch!
Kingsbridge Bus Posted January 18, 2013 #3 Posted January 18, 2013 Ive seen those a few times at 179st and Broadway Nice
Quill Depot Posted January 18, 2013 #4 Posted January 18, 2013 Nice! I really cry. They look so gone.

mtattrain Posted January 19, 2013 #8 Posted January 19, 2013 Nice find! I see they haven't gotten to all of them yet.
Burrstone Posted January 20, 2013 #9 Posted January 20, 2013 That would be a helluva thing to see in person... Where exactly is it being taken to?
mtattrain Posted January 20, 2013 #10 Posted January 20, 2013 <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Burrstone" data-cid="634721" data-time="1358649766">
That would be a helluva thing to see in person... Where exactly is it being taken to?

Kearny in NJ, then to Ohio.
Dj Hammers Posted January 20, 2013 #12 Posted January 20, 2013 Aren't they saving an A car and a B car for the museum?
Burrstone Posted January 21, 2013 #14 Posted January 21, 2013 Kearny in NJ, then to Ohio. I would've crapped myself if I seen this on the highway! Also, it puts into perspective just how big a subway car is when you see it on the road next to buildings and cars, doesn't seem that big when when they are in normal use, do they?
pelhamlocal Posted January 21, 2013 #15 Posted January 21, 2013 Now that's what you call street running
2 Train Master Posted January 22, 2013 #17 Posted January 22, 2013 Memories of these badasses on the and ! 38-39yrs of service all over the damn system wish they were widespread into the 2K
RollOver Posted January 22, 2013 #18 Posted January 22, 2013 Never rode anything below above the R32 and below the R46 fleets on the B Division.........Oh well......
itmaybeokay Posted January 22, 2013 Author #19 Posted January 22, 2013 why do they leave the doors open? It looked like they had run the tie-down chains through the open doors. Could be wrong.
8thAveExpress Posted January 24, 2013 #20 Posted January 24, 2013 why do they leave the doors open? I think they took the doors off of the train- They can keep them as extra parts for the R46, R68 and R68a They can also sell them here! http://www.mta.info/nyct/materiel/collectsales/index.html

mediccjh Posted January 24, 2013 #22 Posted January 24, 2013 None are in revenue service (obviously). There are few left at 207, and a couple of cars in the middle of Coney Island Yard.

Surprisingly, several trainsets have not been touched since late October, so that may be something... or they probably got scrapped too.
