Grand Concourse Posted January 27, 2013 Share #51 Posted January 27, 2013 Yeah, what are they saving the 9700s for? Although if the cng o5s are going to be all phased out when the shuttle bus service is over, I guess that frees up at least 300 numbers...
Metro CSW Posted January 27, 2013 Share #52 Posted January 27, 2013 I'd leave those alone for now. Gaps such as 7090-7559, 7820-7999 & 8100-8749, I have could be used in the future. But let's concentrate on the buses themselves....
NewFlyer 230 Posted January 28, 2013 Share #53 Posted January 28, 2013 They have 700-1199 once the Orion and New Flyers retire 1291-2100 Some 7000 numbers 8000-87XX 9700-9999 once all the Orion V CNG's are gone.

They might hold back on the #1500s-1800s for a while just in case the MTA retake over NICE/LIBus. The 1900s and 2000s still have some active MCIs. Eric B Posted January 28, 2013 Share #55 Posted January 28, 2013 Is there any rumor on MTA possibly retaking NICE? I haven't heard that one.

No, but there is a possibility that they could, infact many people have called for them to return. Doesn't mean they will, just a thought to keep in mind. NICE already brought new buses and they proved that they want to be separate from the so that they don't have to give money to them. In Jamaica I do see the Orion V CNG's are looking like crap even more then they did under the but that Nassau's lost. The is doing well without LI Bus, we were able to have routes like the B39, Q24, Q79(now a branch of the Q36) restored. Those 1900's and 2000's will be gone probably by the Summer of 2013 just like the Orion V CNG's and New Flyer C40LF's.
Guest MTA Bus Posted March 8, 2013 Share #58 Posted March 8, 2013 The MTA could use the ex Command, Triboro, and Queens Surface numbers since those buses are gone or almost gone.
4P3607 Posted March 8, 2013 Share #59 Posted March 8, 2013 4703-4709 when were they last used I believe they were RTSs... I think a majority of the 4xxx's used to be RTSs, I remember seeing a few 4800s back then. There were even RTS in the 3xxx's, someone has pics of them (I think Trevor does). Around the Horn Posted April 30, 2013 Share #61 Posted April 30, 2013 Im glad you beat me to it. I read this and went immediately to my copy of the 1998 MTA NYCT Insider's guide and took this pic of page 26: as you can see, D60's first batch was numbered 1001- 1069. Also note that the first batch of Orion V's-after being originally numbered 93001 and up- were renumbered sometime thru the delivery to 101-316. this list was as of 1998. i hate to bump this thread but could you scan the rest of the pages?that looks mighty interesting to read...
