Acela Express Posted January 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2013 As the title says. According to our Willie Rivera, TWU VP Chair - East New York depot will be undergoing preparations for artic introduction, specifically for B15 usage. When? Not clear as of yet. Keep your eyes open. BreeddekalbL Posted January 25, 2013 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2013 Nice but i thought it had it was artic qualified since its a maintenance facility or is the facility seperate to the depot?
Q43LTD Posted January 25, 2013 Share #6 Posted January 25, 2013 I think routes other than the B15 could use artics. Other than that, good news!

Novabus 5000 Posted January 25, 2013 Share #8 Posted January 25, 2013 I think routes other than the B15 could use artics. Other than that, good news! During PM Rush, Q56 especially!

ciboii22 Posted January 25, 2013 Share #11 Posted January 25, 2013 If they are getting Artics, Bring back our Xcelsiors! Honestly IMO I think that IF they actually do get artics then the 45 Xcelsiors might swing back over to the park. That's what I think, I don't know about anybody else's opinion but that might just happen, only time will tell.
jgood6195 Posted January 25, 2013 Share #12 Posted January 25, 2013 Sweet! Maybe ENY will be getting some from the next order... Perhaps the B15 is going to get a limited or SBS. I always believed that they need a limited but artics? Really did not see that one coming. B82? Hell no!
Culver Posted January 25, 2013 Share #13 Posted January 25, 2013 Perhaps the B15 is going to get a limited or SBS. I always believed that they need a limited but artics? Really did not see that one coming. B82? Hell no! I thought a B82 SBS would be nice, but Kings Highway is a narrow road between Ocean Avenue and its end at Bay Parkway, and that's where it slows down to a crawl and gets bunched up during peak hours. MTA must like the XD60s they have so far if they're planning on all these articulated buses coming in.
Grand Concourse Posted January 25, 2013 Share #14 Posted January 25, 2013 I don't think it automatically means more Xd60s since all 90 aren't here yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if it means more Nova lfsa.

Fresh Pond Posted January 25, 2013 Share #16 Posted January 25, 2013 Ride the B15 during the day and you'll see how crowded it gets. Sometimes you would see 3 buses going down the line all at once and all 3 of them will be packed. Hell, sometimes its crowded on the hawk runs, and they come every 45 minutes at that time. limitednyc Posted January 25, 2013 Share #19 Posted January 25, 2013 if you look at possible extra artic when all the current orders are complete ( and the a shuttle is no longer needed) there will be about 25 or so extra busses unassingned. that wouldn't be enouph busses to fully convert the b15 the artic . if eny would get artic the b12 would probablly be the route. Fresh Pond Posted January 25, 2013 Share #20 Posted January 25, 2013 There will be no extra artics, all the buses are/have been assigned already
Grand Concourse Posted January 25, 2013 Share #21 Posted January 25, 2013 If that's so, would it mean the Bronx or Manhattan sees a loss of some artics? If there's more artics spread over to Brooklyn, then some place has to lose theirs if the numbers are all accounted for.

Q43LTD Posted January 25, 2013 Share #23 Posted January 25, 2013 Pretty much. When this goes into effect, Staten Island will be the only borough w/o artics.
Guest MTA Bus Posted January 25, 2013 Share #24 Posted January 25, 2013 I'm curious to see ENY having artics.

For now, by 2017, I could see them with LFSAs, XD60s or something else altogether.
