Novabus 5000 Posted January 27, 2013 Share #53 Posted January 27, 2013 I wonder if another Queens depot besides(BP and JFK in the future) and CS will get artics. In the next order of Artics, 72 buses are slated for MTA Bus. Some going to JFK for the Q6 & Q10, the rest going to BP for the Q113.

Micstromme Posted May 12, 2013 Share #63 Posted May 12, 2013 Makes me wonder if Jackie Gleason could be next. They could certainly use artics on some of their routes. The route of choice for JG would be the B35, absolutely. Another powerhouse route for the Gleason would be the B68. But definitely the B35 artics. As for the ENY Depot, the B15 should be 100% artic. Also (even though it is really just a shuttle route), the B42 could really use them as well. Have any of you tried catching a bus during peaks? Then try to catch one during Rush. Fresh Pond Posted May 12, 2013 Share #67 Posted May 12, 2013 but wouldn't they have to order xn60's for gleason or could they do what they did for west farms? They can do what they did for west farms...the CNG depots can also use diesel buses Gleason does not carry that much diesel anymore since it's primarily a CNG depot now. They only carry enough diesel to fuel the road trucks and the hospital/metrocard busses based out of there
Culver Posted May 12, 2013 Share #68 Posted May 12, 2013 They can do what they did for west farms...the CNG depots can also use diesel buses I still say do an XN60 order. West Farms has 61 artics right now. Add in some for Gleason for the B35 and you got a decent sized order (or as it would be known to other transit agencies, a huge order) of XN60s. The current artics at West Farms could then be used to displace older units throughout the system.
Grand Concourse Posted May 12, 2013 Share #69 Posted May 12, 2013 But the b35 on church av is narrow and delayed prone like all the other east-west roads served by the JG routes. You get one artic stuck in traffic and it just goes downhill from there. Fix the double parking issues and then maybe we can speculate about the artics. trainfan22 Posted May 12, 2013 Share #70 Posted May 12, 2013 When its time for the Orion VII CNGs to retire... that's the perfect opportunity to buy a small order of artics for an route like the B35 and whatever other gleason route needs them.
