jgood6195 Posted February 1, 2013 Author Share #26 Posted February 1, 2013 Let's try to avoid name-calling, but even from a practical standpoint and not just the fact that many of us love the RTSes, if an LGA hybrid had burned it would likely have been covered by warranty. This is just a bus completely lost. No it would not. The bus maker (Orion) went out of business.
SevenEleven Posted February 1, 2013 Share #27 Posted February 1, 2013 No it would not. The bus maker (Orion) went out of business. No it would not. The bus maker (Orion) went out of business. Oriskany is still supposed to be open for parts and maintenance.
QM1to6Ave Posted February 1, 2013 Share #28 Posted February 1, 2013 No it would not. The bus maker (Orion) went out of business. When a car/bus manufacturer goes out of business or files bankruptcy, it is still required to honor its warranty and service agreements. The company doesn't just disappear in a puff of smoke
Fresh Pond Posted February 1, 2013 Share #29 Posted February 1, 2013 The bus was old, out was gonna die eventually...this one just so happened to go out like 8752 did ...in a blaze of glory
Culver Posted February 1, 2013 Share #30 Posted February 1, 2013 Oriskany is still supposed to be open for parts and maintenance. Also, retrofitting buses. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/daimler-buses-reconfigures-operations-in-north-america-148863415.html Don't suppose they can do the hybrid-to-clean-diesel conversions the MTA wants. User Posted February 1, 2013 Share #34 Posted February 1, 2013 Hey look, its another bus out of LGA on fire! Wow, I couldn't have seen this one coming. Sucks to see an RTS go. Driving it or riding it? He's a bus operator, so ummmmm, driving it? Idiot.... You can stop now. So, if they are open for parts and maintance, could this mean that they could return if need be? No, it was Daimler's plan from the start to only leave one plant open for parts and maintenance. A return of Orion has nothing to do with it. Culver Posted February 1, 2013 Share #41 Posted February 1, 2013 So, if they are open for parts and maintance, could this mean that they could return if need be? They'd have to bring back all the workers that are now gone and getting retrained by the state for other jobs. There's also the issue with the bodies, etc. being made in a plant in Ontario that's completely closed now.
