Pakenhamtrain Posted February 3, 2013 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2013 From the Geelong Advertiser: V/Line puts 22 Z-types off lineFebruary 1st, 2013 THE withdrawal of some of V/Line's oldest rolling stock because of safety issues will result in fewer seats on some Geelong and Warrnambool services. V/Line on Wednesday immediately removed 22 of its "Z"-type passenger cars for an indefinite period as it examines fatigue cracks discovered in some bogies, which comprise suspension components and wheelsets which the trains ride on.Some of the carriages, used on locomotive-hauled services, were built as late as 1966 and are among the oldest in the V/Line fleet. http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2013/02/01/358420_news.html These cars (BZN and BTN) are the 4th and 5th cars on FN and VN car sets. Used mainly on long distance services and some peak hour interurban trains. These were built from 1956 to 1960.
