R68s on the (Q) today...

Recommended Posts

Good catch!

I seem to recall that, some years back, R68As were reasonably common on the (N) and (Q) lines on weekends, since the (B) doesn't run then. What's changed??

Of course. Last summer back in 2011, the (N) and (Q) did had R68/68As numerous times on the weekends due to the R160s needed maintenance.

Cool catch! I must have missed it by little. Are they still out there?

Hopefully, I think it might have been a last minute put in cause half the cars were still signed up as a (D) and looks like they rushed through putting up the correct destinations on the rollsigns.

With the Q extended to Astoria-Ditmars, it has 2 terminals and I think it's why it has to be all R160. N since it doesn't change terminals, can be whatever is available from the yard. Ideally both lines would be all R160 so that at Ditmars the crews can take a train for either line and save time with the sign change.

Might have been only put in for yesterday, I haven't seen it today either.
