B35 via Church Posted March 9, 2013 Share #28 Posted March 9, 2013 it sounded that way. "The Bx55 will be phased out due to the Bx15 LTD & the Bx41 (north of fordham plaza)." * ...is saying - [the bx15 LTD] + [the Bx41 north of fordham plaza] will cancel out the 55... "well don't you mean bx55 becoming bx15 LTD?" * ...isn't accounting for the 55 portion north of fordham plaza, but for all intents & purposes, it can be summed up that way.... If someone wanted to be nitpicky though & take that statement for face value, it would have someone believe that 15's are running up to gun hill road, like the 55 does (which was what the man was asking about; the northbound 15 terminal).... So yeah, Your statement was general, mine was specific..... We're saying the same thing - There will be no more buses running as the "Bx55". checkmatechamp13 Posted March 11, 2013 Share #30 Posted March 11, 2013 what will the tuurnaround routing be..for buses to and from -149 st and 3 av...the hub...southbound and northbound directions It looks like the same one as the Bx55, which makes sense, since this is really just swapping the southern terminals of the local and limited (While also replacing Webster Avenue Bx55 service with a full-time Bx41 SBS) : http://www.subchat.com/buschat/readflat.asp?Id=271749&p=1#272038
B35 via Church Posted March 11, 2013 Share #31 Posted March 11, 2013 I like how Spikecat has an interest in turnaround scenarios.... Technically, I don't know how they'll turn around - I highly doubt it would deviate from how Bx55's turnaround though....
Metro CSW Posted March 13, 2013 Author Share #32 Posted March 13, 2013 When this change takes effect, will the Bx15 still come out of West Farms, if it still comes out of West Farms, what will happen to all the extra articulated buses that once served the Bx55 at Kingsbridge, will they be transferred to another route and convert that route to articulated or will they be transferred to MTA Bus Co. Or will the Bx15 be transferred to Kingsbridge? #1. Most likely the Bx15 stays where it is.... #2. Assumptions are not necessary at the moment. Let's wait and---dear lord, this is said to death!!! cotb16 Posted March 15, 2013 Share #33 Posted March 15, 2013 When this change takes effect, will the Bx15 still come out of West Farms, if it still comes out of West Farms, what will happen to all the extra articulated buses that once served the Bx55 at Kinngsbridge, will they be transferred to another route and convert that route to articulated or will they be transferred to MTA Bus Co. Or will the Bx15 be transferred to Kingsbridge? My guess is that the artics from Kingsbridge used on the Bx55 would go to West Farms since the Fordham Plaza reconstruction would sever access from the north (with the exception of the northbound Bx17 and Bee-Lines). tripleeye49 Posted March 19, 2013 Share #34 Posted March 19, 2013 With the implementation of the SBS services along the 125thStreet and Webster Avenue corridors, and the planned changes to the ThirdAvenue corridor, I would like to make a few suggestions that I believe willvastly improve services along each of those corridors. The services would affect all buses alongeach of those corridors (Bronx routes: Bx15/55, Bx41, and Manhattan: M60, M100,M101) First of all 125th Street: 125th Street SBS Service: Daily: 6 AM to 11 PM onthe M60, M101, and the Bx15. Farecollection would take place at the stations, not on the bus. 125th Street Local Service: M101, Bx15 when M100does not run. M100: Increased service frequency to every 4 to 5 minutesduring the weekdays, and every 6 to 7 minutes weekend days. Fleet converted to all articulated buses. The other routes on 125th Streetwould be converted to SBS service making limited stops from Amsterdam to 1stAvenue, the new last stop on the M100. M101: SBS implemented on this route from 161stStreet / Amsterdam to East 8th Street / 3rd Avenue. With a local route being extended or reroutedalong Amsterdam Avenue north of 161st Street, the SBS could beextended to 181st Street. Bx15: SBS implemented on this route with local service toAmsterdam, and then SBS service from Amsterdam Avenue / 125th Streetto 1st Avenue / 125th Street. When the M100 does not run, the Bx15 wouldmake all local stops. Now service in the Bronx: Third Avenue: Bx15: SBS implemented on this route continuing fromManhattan starting from Willis Avenue / 138th Street to Williamsbridge. Additional Bx15 local service would run from149th Street to Fordham Plaza. The reason I would extend the Bx15 SBS to Williamsbridge is to supplementBx41 SBS service and give a one seat ride on Third Avenue from the North Bronx. Webster Avenue: Bx41: All SBS service runs to LaGuardia Airport. Service to the Airport would run 24/7, andconnect to the Bx15 at The Hub for service along 125th Street. Bx15 SBS: Williamsbridge Terminal / White Plains Road Williamsbridge Metro North / Webster Avenue Norwood (E. 204th Street) / Webster Bedford Park / Webster Avenue Fordham Plaza / Third Avenue E. 183rd Street / Third Avenue Tremont / Third Avenue Claremont / Third Avenue E. 169th Street / Third Avenue E. 163rd Street / Third Avenue E. 156th Street / Third Avenue The Hub / 149th Street / Third Avenue Mott Haven / 138th Street / Third Avenue E. ACEVE14 Posted March 27, 2013 Share #37 Posted March 27, 2013 Last week, I went to the public hearing for the Bx15/Bx55 service changes and the 24/7-staffed station booth at the Kingsbridge Road Station in The Bronx. I shared my whole opinions on the whole Bx15/Bx55 service changes by writing it on paper and speaking a little more details about it. I even showed my hand-crafted bus map to the board members of the MTA. I'm not sure if any of the board members who attended the public hearing have an account on the NYC Transit Froums or not, but any one of you forum members by any chance, reconize them, let them know about the proposed service changes that I've thought up for them. I haven't given them the explanation of what the service changes would turn out, but I would like to explain what the changes are: - Bx15LCL: Regular Service will operate only in The Bronx, between Fordham Plaza and Mott Haven (southbound: right on E 138th St, left on 3rd Av, E 136th St, and Lincoln Av where it'll terminate at the new Bx21/Bx32 final southbound bus stop (NE corner of Licoln/136th); northbound: bus will pick up passengers, leave the current Bx1/Bx2 bus stop (a few steps up north of its final southbound stop) and make a right on E 138th St, and left on Willis Av to resume regular route.) at all times except late nights. Bx15 buses will continue down to Harlem, Manhattan along the current route. - Bx39: Same line, different route; will operate between Wakefield-E 241st St/White Plains Road and Clasons Point-Soundview Av/Cornell Av at all times except late nights (bus service north of E Gun Hill Road is replaced by Bx41LCL). Northbound buses will stay on White Plains Road until E 241st St and will turn themselves around for southbound trips (straight on E 241st St, left on Barnes Av, right on Cranford Av, Osman Place, and E 241st St to 1st southbound stop on Furman Av). Bx41LCL: Same route between Williamsbridge/Gun Hill Road Subway Station Intermodel Bus Terminal and The Hub at all times except late nights. Bx41 replaces the Bx39 service north of E Gun Hill Road to/from Wakefield. Bx41+SBS: A new +selectbusservice route that will replace the bi-directional weekday rush hour Limited-Stop Service and operate between Wakefield-E 241st St and The Hub-E 148th St/Courtlandt Av all day (Monday-Friday 5:00 AM-12:00 AM, Saturday 6:00 AM-11:00 PM, and Sunday 6:00 AM-10:00 PM). Bx50+SBS: A new +selectbusservice route that will serve the commuters a ride to the airport. Will soon operate between either Williamsbridge or Fordham Plaza, The Bronx, and LaGuardia Airport, Queens via Webster Av, currently being used for the Bx41 line. Bx55LTD: Bus desingnation retained, weekday evenings and all weekend service reinstated. Limted-Stop buses will now operate between either Williamsbridge (weekdays only or weekly regiment), or Fordham Plaza (weekly regiment), The Bronx, and Harlem, Manhattan with limited stops in the Bronx and local stops in Manhattan. Bx55 Limited-Stop Buses will continue down along 3rd Av past The Hub. The next stop after 3rd Av/E 138th St in The Bronx for all southbound buses is E 125th St/2nd Av in Manhattan, the next stop after E 125th St/1st Av in Manhattan for all northbound buses is Lincoln Av/E 137th St in The Bronx. dkupf Posted March 29, 2013 Share #38 Posted March 29, 2013 I heard on Subchat's BusChat forum that NYCT is planning to implement the a new SBS route between Fordham Plaza and LGA via Webster Ave for December 2013. Details can be found at http://www.nyc.gov/html/brt/html/routes/webster.shtml for the Webster Ave study and http://www.nyc.gov/html/brt/html/other/laguardia.shtml for the LGA study. dkupf Posted March 29, 2013 Share #39 Posted March 29, 2013 I was at the public hearing. Only me and two other people were in attendance. All three of us preregistered for the hearing. I was the second person to speak. At 6:15PM, a recess was called; I left. Deplorable. Last week, I went to the public hearing for the Bx15/Bx55 service changes and the 24/7-staffed station booth at the Kingsbridge Road Station in The Bronx....
