YankeesPwnMets Posted December 19, 2013 Share #526 Posted December 19, 2013 Chien-Ming Wang signed with the Cincinnati Reds. I can't believe it's almost 6 six years since he had that accident down at Houston. That accident shows us why the NL should adopt the DH. That injury derailed his career and probably cost him millions of dollars in salaries. I bet Wang would still be effective today with the Yankees without that injury and he would have probably gotten a huge contract too.
Grand Concourse Posted December 21, 2013 Share #527 Posted December 21, 2013 Indeed, i still cant get over that injury. The worst part was the team had a decent enough lead that he probably couldve been pulled for a pr. He was a two time 19 game winner and could've been a solid 2 guy in the rotation now. He probably blew out his shoulder to compensate for the foot pain.
alejr88 Posted December 26, 2013 Author Share #528 Posted December 26, 2013 Soo Masahiro Tanaka has been finally posted. I read somewhere that the Cubs are interested and that "they will not be outbid". Sure thing Theo, grab a chair as soon as the Yankees sign Tanaka from everyone. I've seen him pitch, he's very good but not an ace. Pitches up in the zone but throws in the mid 90's. If the Yankees sign him, hopefully he can be a Kuroda or a Hisashi Iwakuma kind of guy. Grand Concourse Posted December 28, 2013 Share #529 Posted December 28, 2013 I just hope the yankees have fall back options if they get outbid for his services. I mean yes the other guys are probably way overpriced, but they are free agents, so they wont have to trade anyone for them (at worst lose a draft pick). The paper a few days ago had a list of decent alternatives especially pitchers that could sign for 1 yr deals based on incentives (like a colon type, low risk, high reward. As even a half good year is better than a subpar 5th starter stinking up the place like hughes did last year where u knew he was going to lose or put the tram in the spot to lose somehow). GojiMet86 Posted January 22, 2014 Share #535 Posted January 22, 2014 Eh, I feel that's an overpay on the part of the Yankees. But I'm glad he signed. He was holding up the rest of the pitcher market, lol. And that's now almost half a billion that the Yankees have guaranteed to their players. Grand Concourse Posted January 22, 2014 Share #537 Posted January 22, 2014 They went over the $189mil mark... sigh. Well it was what they needed, but I don't think it was worth it long term. Team is still flawed and I don't think it was going to make a difference. If they were to stay under 189 mil, then that would be better for the long term.
