borednyorker157 38 #1 Posted March 11, 2013 Does anyone know when the next time their will be a IRT fan trip? It's be quiet awhile. And how come the NY transit museum doesn't have the redbird on display like it used too? lol
Threxx 1,833 #2 Posted March 11, 2013 The R33's are being overhauled for some reason, so they're not at the museum atm...
Mr Railfan 702 #3 Posted March 11, 2013 You can check the Calender of events for the museum: http://www.mta.info/mta/museum/programs.htm They will post the date of the next fan trip there.
+Young+ 579 #4 Posted March 12, 2013 The reasons why the Redbirds are not on display are probably because: a) They are getting overhauled (thanks Threxx) b) There is no room for them, that is why they had to take out the R-16 car to put the single R-44 car in c) Last I heard, they were being used as "Power horses" to move the R62 cars to/from Corona Yard to/from the 207 Street Yard, since you do not need a Train Service Supervisor if you use the Redbirds. As far as a Fan Trip is concerned, for the past couple of years, the museum usually has at least two every summer - one on the A Division (IRT) and one on the B Division (IND/BMT). Like someone previously stated, once the dates are announced, they will be posted on this site or you can check the link for additional information. Finally, as we all know, the All-Star game is going to be held @ CitiField this July. With that said, they may run the TOMC on the Flushing line, which will probably include the R12, R15, R17 and R33 from the Museum. If this is the case, then they will put at least one pair of Redbirds in the museum as a temporary substitute, just like how they normally put the R32, R40 Slants or the R46s in there when they take out 100, 484 & 1575 for the Holiday Nostalgia Train.
