Pakenhamtrain Posted March 14, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2013 From the St George and Sutherland Shire news. Airconditioned trains a breath of fresh air as enthusiasts farewell the S-set trains ByMurray Trembath March 13, 2013, 2:29 p.m. For the first time, only airconditioned trains were scheduled to run on the Illawarra and Eastern Suburbs rail lines this week. While this level of comfort won’t last, a Transport for NSWspokeswoman said there would be ‘‘a higher proportion’’ ofairconditioned trains than operated previously. The improvementfollowed the withdrawal of non-airconditioned, silver coloured, S-settrains, which have operated for the past 40 years. A group ofenthusiasts, who describe themselves as ‘‘train tragics,’’ gathered atCronulla station on Friday night to farewell the last of this modeltrain to operate on the Illawarra line. http://www.theleader.com.au/story/1361540/airconditioned-trains-a-breath-of-fresh-air-as-enthusiasts-farewell-the-s-set-trains/?cs=1507 This is part of the Waratah trains(A sets) entry into service. The non air conditioned rolling stock gets shifted from Sector 1(Which the ES&I line is in) and Moved to Sector 2(Flemington) and Sector 3(Hornsby) With the Tangara's on Sector 3 being moved to Sector 1. When more A sets enter service those moved trains get removed and scrapped.
