R188 7857 Posted March 16, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 16, 2013 I do not know how long this has been, but cars #1661 and #1656 have had their full-length cabs removed, so I managed to get an RFW on 1661 and also see that 1656 also had it. GojiMet86 Posted March 16, 2013 Share #2 Posted March 16, 2013 Cool pics and vids, and cool catch! I've done a RFW to Flushing. All I need is that Manhattan RFW.
IntExp Posted March 17, 2013 Share #3 Posted March 17, 2013 1661 has had their full-width cabs removed for a long time, was able to catch it and go RFW to TSQ about two to three months ago. If I'm not mistaken, it usually runs on either the second to last or last express run of the AM Rush. Man, it was cool! If only there were a bit more common... As for 1651, I first saw it w/o it's full-width cab last week, but it might have been remover earlier... I've done the RFW to Main wayy too many times, yet it never gets old. Especially on the express run between 61st Street and Junction....
Grand Concourse Posted March 17, 2013 Share #4 Posted March 17, 2013 Yeah, corona has been taking off singles and arranging them into 5 car units. So they are short on the single units and they took that full width cab and folded it in. I wouldn't be surprised it stays like that till it moves back to the 6 and they turn it back to a full width cab again. Getting a manhattan bound rfw view is the best IMO. Nothing beats the view of the manhattan skyline.

I'll wait, though, until the current foamfest subsides... Yeah, +1 on the Manhattan bound RFW on the It really is amazing, my favorite stretch on it is the segment between 33rd-Rawson and Hunters Point Avenue - great views of Manhattan, LIC, and 5Pointz. Just awesome. Sure gonna miss it when the R188's start rolling in (hopefully) later this year...

ttcsubwayfan Posted March 17, 2013 Share #7 Posted March 17, 2013 If I'm not mistaken, it usually runs on either the second to last or last express run of the AM Rush Any chance of catching this unit during PM Rush? What time does the last express run? Looks I may be restructuring my trip plans a bit.
R188 7857 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted March 17, 2013 Yeah, I have at least RFW'ed the Flushing bound 15+ times... It was sure fun yesterday to go Manhattan bound. I didn't see anymore full-length cabs removed other than 1656.
