R62A 2002-2006 Through CPW express

I saw a set of redbirds hawling R62A 2002-2006 at 10:15PM running through 81st street,uptown CPW express. It was 2 redbirds at the front and at the end and a 5 car set R62A. Any idea to why there sending it that far?

Probably returning to IRT; says it was going uptown.

2002-6? Doesn't seem to be the next 5 car set to be linked as it should be a consecutive 5 car set from 1-5, not 2-6. We're they consecutively numbered? Well, either way interesting sight.

All the sets have been linked up already, all the way down to 1966. 

 

You couldn't have seen 2002-2006, It has to be 2001-2005 or 2006-2010 Since they are now linked in 5-car sets. It was probably going for a maintnence check to 207 st yard, last month I saw 2116-2120 hooked up to 1944 and a redbird on each end coming out of 111 st yard going to 207 st even tho it was already SMSed.

Sounds like a move from Corona to 207. The move is Flushing line to Queensboro upper, over to BMT via 60 St and south side of bridge to Pacific St, change ends, come back over the north side of the bridge and up 6 Ave & CPW to 207.

I've seen this happen on the Brooklyn end where they had sets of R62's marked for the making that reverse direction switch @ Pacific. So NOW I know why. Good info.
