SmallParkShuttle Posted March 27, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2013 Good morning all, Does anyone know if the R44s ever had fiberglass number plates? I was wondering how they achieved the black-number-on-clear-background number scheme on delivery. Were the white-on-black replacement plates prior to renumbering fiberglass also, or did they switch to metal then? Thanks in advance, SPS
BrooklynBus Posted March 31, 2013 Share #2 Posted March 31, 2013 I believe they switched to metal when the cars were renumbered.
Art Vandelay Posted March 31, 2013 Share #3 Posted March 31, 2013 The three digit white on black plates were fiberglass.
SmallParkShuttle Posted April 1, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted April 1, 2013 Thanks guys. Every now and then, the Transit Museum Gallery at GCT has a couple of those number plates for sale at a reasonable price. I was pretty sure they were from the R44, but I wanted to make sure.
