Whenever you see a NYC BUS like the B6, there is a UP sticker but is paste on "Quality Control Bus" and in MTA BUS like the Q6, there is just a depot sticker. But now, almost alot of MTA BUS has a quality control bus paste on their buses so Im wondering

1) why MTA BUS doesnt have the "Quality Control Bus" back then?

2) "Quality Control Bus" what does it refer to?

I could be wrong, but I think originally that had to do with Quality Performance Division, which was a program started by NYCT in the 90s as an effort to up the maintenance standards in the system. As MTA Bus is ex-PBL, they were never part of that program, and were never incorporated. Those stickers shouldn't be on MTA Buses, but between buses that have been transferred from NYCT to MTAB and mis-labeling buses at the CMFs, you get a lot of buses that have them. Course, that whole program got shut a while back, so who knows why they still label buses with that...but those stickers have been around NYCT since at least the mid-90s.

All new buses coming into MTAB since the Orion 7 NGs have them.

Nowadays that's been the case with every bus that's been repainted/rehabbed.

Yeah, they put that sticker on everything now. The only reason you don't see it on some freshly overhauled buses(namely the D60's) is because they put the sticker in the wrong place and it gets covered by the curb side ads. Depots don't usually stock the QCB decal so when it gets covered or falls off, they just throw a depot sticker on where it should be.

Not quite that cut and dry though... All NYCT buses overhauled or repainted get the sticker, but I still see a fair number of overhauled MTAB buses that don't get the the sticker. None of it'll even matter in a few years anyway...
