nostalgia Posted May 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 6, 2013 MN's New Haven line has a unique power supply with DC and AC operation. Coupled the changeover between Pelham and Mount Vernon East, there are some locations where the electricity is off due to a change in substations supplying power to the catenary. These locations are called Phase Breaks, Phase Gaps, and Dead Sections. Is there a technical difference between these terms?
