B/O 4600 Hiring Process

Message added by +Young+

BUS OPERATOR #4600

List Status Update: 1/16/22 The list for this specific exam has been extended to January 6th, 2024.

Training: See the DOB New Hire FAQ topic for more information.

Next Scheduled Class: You will be scheduled with candidates of more recent Bus Operator exams (which are pinned), so check those threads for more information.

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You don't have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

For those who will be reporting to Livingston Street in the future, click here for the pre-employment packet and click here or for extra pages of the CPD-B booklet (if you need them) for final processing.

Next, for those of you who are still waiting, you folks might want to check out this and this YouTube video. In addition, if you need help getting your Class B CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com which is free!! Remember, the multiple-choice tests you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement.

Finally, if you need to make an appointment at the DMV to take the multiple-choice examinations for your Commercial Learner's Permit, click here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We're here to help each other.

Good luck!

might be a stupid question, but do you where business attire???

For the drug test, no.

When I went for the medical and final processing back in January 2014, since it was winter, I wore a either a yellow polo shirt with a collar, a black sweater, black jeans and black boots, since there was snow on the ground. If you want to wear business attire for final processing, which is considered your "interview," it's strictly optional. In my honest opinion, just wear something that's nice and presentable, and you should be fine.

So I thought this was interesting.

I went for my pre-employment last Wednesday, took a drug test.

Now today I just passed my medical, and they told me by the time I get hired my first drug test (1 week old) would expire. So even though I passed my medical, they didn't do my final processing because I had to take a 2nd drug test, which they said they'd need the results to before they sit with me for final processing. They said I'd get a phone call or email in 1-2 weeks.

Anyone else go through this? I was told medical was always final processing day. Weird that I have to come back only for final processing. I'll keep you posted.

Remember when i said that a 2nd drug test would possibly be required? [emoji4]

-Edit i took 2 drug test for transit within a 2week span, so the 1 test every 30 day thing isn't so true....

It did seem a little bit odd that mtc took the first drug test then got an invite for medical just 2 days later. Everywhere I see it says 3-90 days from drug test is when you receive medical invite.

do they tell u right on the spot if u pass ur medical? or they call or email u the results?

Once you finish your testing... blood pressure, ekg, urine analysis, vision, and hearing, you'll see a doctor who will give you a physical. He/she will then tell you whether or not you pass.

You basically sit at a computer and you're asked a series of questions pertaining to your health. Then your hearing, heart, vision and urine is checked then you're seen by one of their doctors who asks other questions and checks you out. If everything's ok you're given the green light.

I went through something similar for 2613 processing - I did my 2nd drug test on December 19th, 2013. I went for Medical on December 31st, 2013 and was placed on hold. By the time I came back, after seeing a specialist, it was January 21st or 22nd (somewhere around there). Therefore, although I passed medical, my second drug test expired and I had to take a third drug test. Two or three days later, they called me for final processing.

Yeah, I took a drug test on the 20th and yesterday, the 27th...

Yeah they told me they had to wait for my drug test results. When you went in for final processing, were you in and out? I can't imagine it taking that long without medical or drug test...
