B/O 4600 Hiring Process

Message added by +Young+

BUS OPERATOR #4600

List Status Update: 1/16/22 The list for this specific exam has been extended to January 6th, 2024.

Training: See the DOB New Hire FAQ topic for more information.

Next Scheduled Class: You will be scheduled with candidates of more recent Bus Operator exams (which are pinned), so check those threads for more information.

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You don't have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

For those who will be reporting to Livingston Street in the future, click here for the pre-employment packet and click here or for extra pages of the CPD-B booklet (if you need them) for final processing.

Next, for those of you who are still waiting, you folks might want to check out this and this YouTube video. In addition, if you need help getting your Class B CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com which is free!! Remember, the multiple-choice tests you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement.

Finally, if you need to make an appointment at the DMV to take the multiple-choice examinations for your Commercial Learner's Permit, click here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We're here to help each other.

Good luck!

Congratulations Young!  I hope to see you on the road in a year or so :)

Thanks! At least two other members (whom I am keeping anonymous) have sent me a private message asking me how to calculate their score. For those that are embarrassed to ask:

The easiest way to do this (without 1.66 or 1.67) is to divide the number of questions you got correct by 60. Therefore, a few examples are:

-If you got 30 questions correct, then on your calculator do 30 divided by 60 and you will get 0.5. Turn this decimal into a percent and you get 50% (you failed).

-If you got 45 questions correct, you do 45 divided by 60 and you will get 0.75. Turn this decimal into a percent and you will get 75%.

-If you got 54 questions correct, then do 54 divided by 60 and you will get 0.9. Turn this into a percent - 90%.

I got 4 wrong on the 4600 exam. Is this good? Do I have a legit shot on getting on the job? Id like some opinions as im pretty satisfied with the score but would like input from others.

Also, whats the best way to study for the BOSS exam? Books available?

Congratulations to all that passed! :)

I got only one wrong, so a 98.33%

The question marked wrong was #13, where c was chosen incorrectly. This was the Saturday AM session.

Are there any top scorers here? Or are they just being modest  :P

I got 4 wrong, so 93.33 for me...in addition, I also took exam 2613, and I am going for final processing on Monday, so I guess I am ahead of all of you :P !!

Congratulations Young I am glad your on your way please keep posting will look forward to reading about your progress thanks for all the helpful info you provide

Just checked my answer not too long ago and I passed! I'm not going to say how many I got wrong, but I already been there and done that. Just keep in mind everyone you only need a 70% to pass and yes the list will be extremely long but also keep in mind they may be a lot of people might not get in for a lot of reasons even if you scored very high. Trust me I know and eventually everybody will get called from the list when your time comes.

Bus Operator Applicants, Exam No. 4600

Thank you for filing for NYC Transit Bus Operator, Exam No. 4600. Please take a moment and read the important information below.

SELECTION PROCESS:

You will be given a multiple-choice test. Your score on this test will be used to determine your place on an eligible list. You must achieve a score of at least 70 to pass this test.

PROPOSED KEYS: (NEW)

The proposed keys for this exam will be published on January 23, 2014. Please refer to your ‘Candidate’s Record of Answers’ sheet to compare your answers to the proposed key answers. The final key answers will not be published until the list is established.

LIST ESTABLISHMENT / NOTICE OF RESULTS: (NEW)

At this time, we do not have an expected month in which this list will be established. As per the Notice of Examination, this may be up to nine months from when you took the test. Once the list is established, you will receive your official Notice of Results in the mail.

PLEASE NOTE: (UPDATED)

You are responsible for keeping your address up to date. Only the address on our file will be used to mail correspondence.

To update your address, you may visit us at:

MTA Exam Information Center

180 Livingston Street (Lobby)

Brooklyn, NY 11201

Mondays – Fridays, 9 AM – 3 PM

Or call us at (347) 643-7221 / 7222 for further instructions.

Thank you.

From the (MTA) site itself. I think this list will be started on in 2015

So does anybody have a guest on when they'll start calling people for physical?

The wait for the list # won't be processed for 9 months? Don't understand what this means. This is a good or bad thing?

Folks, you have to remember that the (MTA) still has to finish the 2613 Bus Operator list, which only has 3,621 names. Last time I checked that thread (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/) someone with a list # of 385 passed medical, got hired the same day and is going to training this Monday (if I recall correctly). Therefore, they still have 3,200 people to go through. And if they go through 300 people per month (since some people change their minds about the position and/or fail medical, training, etc.) you guys have to wait at least another 10 months before they start calling. This is probably why the list will not come out for another 9 months. Therefore, I guess this is a bad thing cause all of you have to wait, but we have to be fair for those who took exam 2613 and passed in January of 2013.

Congratulations to all of those who passed, and to those who wish they did better, please keep in mind that this answer key is just the proposed answer key. the MTA may throw out questions so until the final answer key comes out you have a idea of how well you did.
