B/O 4600 Hiring Process

+Young+

LIST STATUS UPDATE: 2/21/2021

The list for this specific exam has been extended to January 6th, 2022.

Here is the Notice of Examination for this specific exam in case anyone needs this for future reference.

TRAINING: See this thread for more information.

NEXT SCHEDULED CLASS: Currently Unknown

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You don't have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

For those who will be reporting to Livingston Street in the future, click here for the pre-employment packet and click here or for extra pages of the CPD-B booklet (if you need them) for final processing.

Next, for those of you who are still waiting, you folks might want to check out this and this YouTube video. In addition, if you need help getting your Class B CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com which is free!! Remember, the multiple-choice tests you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement.

Finally, if you need to make an appointment at the DMV to take the multiple-choice examinations for your Commercial Learner's Permit, click here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We're here to help each other.

Good luck!!

@YoungNYCSubwayFan and @mastap123  - Thanks

I will wait a little bit longer to take the permit test then. I hope we don't have a 2 year wait on this...

You're welcome. As far as waiting 2 years, it depends on how fast they move with the 2613 list...

I think that your best bet is to get your permit and get a job as a school bus driver or any bus company that is willing to train you in the mean time. It will get you the experience you need in a large vehicle. It won't hurt and it will keep you current and fresh. I just advise you do not get too comfy in skill. Always remain humble and remember what the trainer told you when you learned how to operate the vehicle and everything will be fine. I hope this is helpful. Be safe and keep a positive mind!!!

Thanks MasterKhem. MTA trains you on the job so I'd rather wait until then. I have a good job now that I'm not complaining about but it's in the private sector and I'm tired of seing good people around me who work hard that are getting laid off all of the time.. I want to get into the MTA because I know that as long as you work hard, you will always be taken care of. I have friends who work very hard but are happy to work for the MTA because it takes care of them and good to wake up in the morning know you will have a job if you continue to work hard..

Does anyone know the direct number to human resources at MTA to find out the status of tests 4600.

I wouldn't even waste your time with that, because the 4600 candidates didn't even take the BOSS exam yet. Plus, they have to go through the entire 2613 list before they can even start with 4600. Keep in mind also that only 10% of the people who took 2613 passed, and, as a result, that list only consists of 3,617 (or 3,621) names compared to 18,000 or something similar.

Therefore, consider ourselves lucky and just be patient. That's all.
