heavy rains over the weekend caused extensive flooding in the san antonio area.

Four hours after a VIA bus was carried away by flood waters, the bus remained stuck, said VIA Spokeswoman Priscilla Ingle.

Because waters have risen in the McCullough-Basse area where the bus was swept away, police have blocked off the intersection. VIA can't remove the 40-foot vehicle until the waters begin to recede and it's safe to return.

The bus was caught in the high waters around 7 a.m. Rising waters got under the bus tires, “that's what forced the bus off to the side of the road,” Ingle said. Three passengers and the bus driver were rescued and uninjured.
